We had the most miserable evening at Scarpetta restaurant in Teddington this week, mainly because the waitress who did not understand English totally mixed our order up. The starter came as a main, while one of us did not get a main, it was total chaos and we will never go there again. We ordered olives with our drinks, and after a long wait, we had to reorder them, well after our drinks were finished and our starters had arrived. One of our starters was carpaccio, a classic Italian starter consisting of finely sliced rare beef with rocket and Parmesan shavings. What we actually got was a thickly cut cold meat platter, smothered with slices and slices of thinly cut yellow cheese which was an effort to consume. Perhaps the authentic ingredients for this dish are beyond the budget of Scarpetta's. To sum up, a total waste of money, and a waste of a beautiful summers evening.

Went to Scarpetta last night for a late Fathers day meal with my parents and brother.

Everyone was more than pleased with the food and the decor of the restaurant is very nice and clean. Not cluttered with faux Italian wares which I found very refreshing.

Staff were friendly and polite, more than happy to assist with my bad Italian pronunciation!

If I had to recommend some dishes out of the best on the table last night, I would say tried the Tiger Prawns with Baby Squid to start and the Rib Eye steak for the main - would have had the Sea Bass but sadly they had sold out.

We had a bottle of red, the Montepulciano, which was fantastic for the price. Fruity with a very pleasant finish.

Great experience, definitely going back and would recommend to anyone.

There are not many Italian restaurants in London(outside the centre), which provide proper italian cooking.

Scarpetta is one of the exceptions. The place for me and my friends when we get home sick.

Fine Italian dishes plus warm and friendly service.

Decor is so refreshing.

You can be well satisfied if you are after a nice evening out.

Stuffed baby squid and duck breast are my favourites.

Nice desserts too.

Been frequenting Scarpetta since the opening.

Food always great and consistant.

Great cross selection. Italian as it should be. None of the anglofied dishes that you have served to you in most chains.

Service friendly and warm, exacatly what you expect from a local restaurant.

Try Ravioli pesce or the duck with cherry sauce.

Keep it up guys and thanks for all the limoncellos.

Lovely, lovely restaurant. Great service from friendly staff and delicious food and wine. We dine there frequently and even our young teenagers love the food! Definitely a cut above the average Italian.

Stylish restaurant with helpful, well mannered staff. The food is not pre-cooked or micro-waved. Always popular; worth booking. Try the Sicilian white wine and lobster tagliatelle.
