Perfect! As they say, it ticks all the boxes!
The best for coffee and croissants. Indeed for anything on the menu.
And lovely people!
Would never go anywhere else in Muswell Hill or Crouch End!

This place has fantastic coffee - the best I have been able to find since moving to Crouch End. The pastries are to die for - these guys make Paul's look like amateurs. The service is also very good, but can be a little dour though understandable when you're dodging 20 buggaboos and fielding requests for "babycinos" every 2 minutes. The menu food is lacking a bit of creativity and is pretty overpriced for what you - especially the museli. Overall though, friendly as you can expect in London and with decent coffee as a draw-card they can't go wrong.

i love this place; its an intimate little place, quiet, and just the place to collect my thoughts. its like a sort of artist's haven, with quirky french posters and that warm, homey feel that even Costa's will never master.
i was eager to practise my french a little, and when i found the waiter serving us was french we chatted quite happily together en francais!
the pastries are almost too beautiful to eat (almost!) and the hot chocolate is delicious!

I have grown to love the place. I may be hung here however it is lovely to go into a love cafe without screaming or crying childen running around. I have no problem with children however sometimes I want to enjoy a nice coffee and a bite to eat
and read a book/newspaper without chaos. Adult me time is important . However I have seen well behaved young children there and happilly sitting with parents (prob as in high chairs can't run around!) and seems welcoming enough.
The staff are welcoming and do smile, warm, intelligent and very helpful.Ilike their breakfast smoothie made with oats, honey, dates, apple, banana and milk. I like it with soya milk and once forgot and they happily changed it.
when I asked for a cappucino they came asked the next day when I was there if i would like it with soya milk.
If you actually treat the staff wih respect and chat to them they do warm up and their good qualities shine.A lot of them are university students /postgrads doing very interesting courses.
I really like the vegetarian breakfast-nicest vegetarian sausages I have eaten in a while in a cafe in North London. The rocket salad is very fresh and lots of healthy leaves served with nice bread. The crepes are fantastic.
The cakes are delicious however I try to ration myself.
I have never waited long for my food or drinks. I have been in very busy periods and staff despite being very busy are fantastic.
My only complaint is that being a very regular visitor there it dents my budget!!

Coffee really good, cakes and croissants excelent, rest of the menu bad, it sounds beautiful in the menu, but the taste is not that good at all.
Service really bad, slow... they bring you the coffee 10 minutes after you asked for it and the cake half an hour later when you already finished your coffee and you do not fancy the cake any more...
And they served a boiling babychino for my son the other day, the poor kid burned his tongue!!! how can they serve a boiling babychino???...it meant to be for kids!!!

i am a regular at the cafe and find that its atmosphere is possibly the best there is in the area, food great, its vegetarian, which is rare for the broadway and the crepes are the best i have ever tasted, in fact im allowed one a week from my wife whos trying to keep my waistline in order! i would suggest trying the 'crepe marron with cream' fabulous!!!!!
for interest there is some framed prints on the wall of muswell hill as it use to be plus an exhibition of local art

I beg to differ from the main review. While I agree that the food is good (and the sweet pastries are superb), the staff really need to lighten up and wear a smile. I especially disagree about Sable Dor being child-friendly. As a local mum in Muswell Hill, the mum friends and I have never felt welcomed by the staff nor comfortable about having our children with us. We're always made to feel (by the staff) like our children are trouble. It would be such a lovely place to be in if not for the staff's attitude.

This is a great and very popular Patisserie located in Crouch End (smaller space) and in Muswell Hill with an Upstairs at Sable D'or.
Established by Mohamed Ladjassa 8 years ago at Crouch End and 6 years ago in Muswell Hill.
Amazing croissants, (better than in France the customer's say) brioche, all type danish and pastries baked throughout each day by the pastry chefs at both locations. Mousse tarts and cakes, quiche tarts, sndwiches of all types daily.
All day traditional breakfast served. Great all type coffee served, the Best! And oh yes, Crepes with all type fillings both savoury and sweet.
Child friendly with high chairs provided and baby chinos. Customers are seen 7 seven days a week queuing to get in both downstairs and upstairs. Country French atmosphere and a communal table upstairs this setting is perfect for small gatherings.
Open 7 days a week, a non smoking building and newspapers provided 7 days a week.
Very popular with moms gathering who live in the area and rest of the time people visit from everywhere to enjoy the wonderful pastries, food and atmosphere.
