Buddha Jazz

I love this restaurant! I can't say a bad word about it. I must have been at least a dozen times and the food is consistently excellent. The atmosphere is romantic, chilled out and perfect for either a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. The staff are attentive friendly. This must be the best restuarant in the area. It certainly has the best selection of Asian beer. Thank you !

I think whoever wrote that bad review saying that the place is bad is jealous..wonder if its someone from another restaurant. I think its a great place, the staff are friendly and the soup noodles are great. I love the spicy beef noodles, that's my favourite. The Pho is great too.

The reviewer who thinks this place should be more like yauatcha has got to be joking. If Buddha Jazz had that kind of money I dont think they would have opened shop here in Camberwell more like Mayfair.

I can not understand why people would come on and write a review like the one below.

I have been here only once but had a great time and have only very good things to say about the service food and the owner who I got chatting to.

I was trying to go tonight and it's a pity they are closed on a Monday, but I suppose everyone has to have at least one day of a week.

The food there is great and the service is absolutely superb. 10 out of 10.

Been here twice now on the weekend and was very happy both times. The food is good value and tasty. Starters are good and there is a lot of variety of both Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, however it is the noodle soups that really stand out. Between two of us we have tried four now and they are excellent. Having visited Vietnam and sampled many inferior versions of pho in London, I can recommend the ones here. The noodles are good quality and the soup was absolutely delicious and home made unlike some places.

Service is very good here, oh and a great choice of Asian beers is on offer. They seemed to cover every country in SE Asia. I will be back again soon. This place is just what the area needs, I disagree with prior reviewer who says this place should aim for Yauatcha level, that is ridiculous for Camberwell. This place is a nice, welcoming and reasonably priced local and I'd like it to stay that way.

i really disagree with the review - i've eaten here quite a bit since moving to camberwell, and the food has always been amazing, the service attentive but never intrusive, with a really realxing atmosphere. its also incredibly cheap (particularly when compared with the overpriced and often dissapointing food one finds down the road on lordship lane). i think its a great restaurant, and deserves to be much busier!

I really like this place and don't agree with the review below. I think the food is excellent and the value for money is great.

The service is a bit quirky at times but I don't mind that at all as I don't think this place needs to be high cuisine. It's a good local restaurant with decent food in a nice environment where I've found it difficult to spend more than 25 quid with wine!

Give it and try..

Buddha Jazz is a nascent restaurant in Camberwell, a part of London that has so far failed to provide a decent restaurant or gastropub (sorry Camberwell!). Buddha Jazz scores very highly on service and interior design but unfortunately, for me, it fails on the quality of food.

I have dined at the restaurant on two occasions now and both times the food disappointed me. The dim sum starters were overcooked so that the steamed ones fell apart and the fried ones were too hard and crunchy. My main courses (curries on both occasions) were tasteless and lacked spice. The only redeeming aspect of the meal was the immaculate presentation.

The service was extremely attentive and professional. However, I only have one gripe on the service and that is I don't think plates should be cleared from a table when there are people still eating at the table. It is intrusive and puts pressure on everyone else to hurry their meal.

I am hoping that with time Buddha Jazz will improve the quality of the food. In an area lacking of decent eateries, it has so much potential. I know that it is not fair to compare it to the likes of Yauatcha in central London (with its multi-million pound interior and Michelin starred food etc) but you can't help but think this is what Buddha Jazz should be aiming for.

I am not going to give up on Buddha Jazz and will continue to patronise the establishment because I am a local. Just please, get it right on the food!
