we went to Hai ha late in the evening but they were very happy to let us in to have a meal. But once we had sat down the waitress was moody and was trying to hurry our order. We didn't take particularly long to eat but were hurried at the end, with the waitress pulling our plates away whilst some of us were still eating. And stripping the table of its cloth whilst we were sitting there. She was also going back to the other waitress and gossiping in between serving us. If a restaurant is happy to take you in late, they should also be happy to let you eat your meal in a reasonable amount of time. The service totally took away from the evening and left a very bitter taste in our mouths.

Wow! What a difference, the place looks warm and inviting with its new decor. With a new chef and menu the food is amazing. Traditional Vietnamese food that tastes just great. Now has a wine list at very reasonable prices. An institution in Hackney with a brilliant face-lift. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are still really good. Just love it! A must for a great food, reasonable prices and warm atmosphere.

I've always enjoyed Hai Ha over the years. It's a bit of a Hackney institution. However everything seems to have changed. It looks like it may have changed hands and the menu has changed. We had a totally tasteless tofu satay to start, which was covered with a pale brown tasteless gunk. Followed by a sizzling hot curry, which was basically a pot of gravy soup. The sea bream and egg fried rice were ok but nothing special. It's such a shame as we used to love it there.

Hai Ha has been re-born. It has had a long overdue refurb and it looks cosy and inviting. Plus they have a new Chef and menu and the food is totally amazing, good quality produce, wonderfully fresh ingredients and the taste must wonderful. Cannot wait to go back. Its a definite must to try.

10 out of 10!
