The Lock

I went to this restaurant several times when it was Mosaica and visiting it as the Lock Bar things there have improved.
A few changes in the layout of the room have given the restaurant more atmosphere and more people were eating there than I ever saw when it was Mosaica. The atmosphere has improved but things are still kept quite safe, there is nothing originally about the decor.
The service was excellent, some of the best I’ve encountered. The food was good; however, I do have some criticisms. The portions were slightly too large for my liking and you are given small appetisers between courses, such as cups of soup; both of which could spoil your appetite and mean you couldn't manage three courses. I want to finish a three course meal and still feel slightly hungry, not bloated. The food in some cases could too rich for some and there wasn't much choice on the menu especially if you did't wan't to eat meat and some meals were only available for two to share.
For what you get I think this restaurant is quite pricey. I’ve eaten equally good food with positions of a more acceptable size at good restaurants for less. This and the limited choice of the menu will mean I won't be visiting regularly even though I live locally and Walthamstow / Tottenham sorely need good restaurants like this.

I discovered The Lock Dining Bar through the Telegraph restaurant promotion and have been back a couple of times in recent weeks.
I have not yet been disappointed. This restaurant is a gem and deserves to be better known and to attract destination diners.
I've only been at lunchtimes (its a bit too far to travel to from Herts in the evening) when the prix fixe offers an outstanding QPR. There's been a different menu each time I've visited and all starters and mains I've chosen have been of a high standard.
Service has been friendly but efficient.
I'm glad that I've discovered The Lock Dining Bar.It more than holds its own against more expensive restaurants in London. In my view the quality and VFM is more reminiscent of the best restaurants I've eaten at in France.

I visited the lock resturant with some friends for dinner for the first time, and i must say, i was very pleased with my food and the service was excellent could not find any fault.
I will most definately be back soon to try the other dishes, and i also understand the chef one of the owners worked for the F WORD man himself [mr gordon ramsey] i can now see why the food is so great and being from a african background the favours are so right.
Being voted the BEST RESTURANT in north london i can truely say well done and good luck .

I have just heard that the Lock has been named 'Best Restaurant in Haringey' as that covers a pretty big chunk of London that's a great achievement but one that in my opinion is fully deserved.
Living in the area, Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Wood Green, Hornsey, Finbury Pk and Tottenham have always lacked somewhere of The Lock's standard and now it's here I can't get enough of it!!

This is a great restaurant. We have been there about 4 times now, and each time has been faultless. (It is better than it was as Mosaica) However the restaurant has never been full to capacity and my fear is that it might not survive. This would be a shame as there no-where else where you can get West End quality food without West End prices, within miles. Go and enjoy. Tell your friends to go too.

What a fantastic place.
I had not visited The Lock since the Mosaica day, so was looking forward to seeing the new incarnation and was not dissapointed.
Our waiter was friendly and attentive whilst remaining enough in the background to maintainan ambiance of intamacy ( a skill lacking in many Waiting staff these days)
For main I has roast duck which was perfectly tender and presented beautifully. The trio of desserts was out of this world and a perfect end to a perfect meal.
During the meal my partner and I were provided with complementary starters of gorgeous spinach soup and also complimentary sorbets prior to our desserts which was a very nice touch.
I can not recommend the Lock enough. Go and try it.

Took some friends here for dinner, it was superb. Good Service and Food. The rib beef for 2 would easily have served 3 or more. We could not manage the desert which was very disappointing, as they all looked so tempting. Next time we will give the starters a miss!

A return visit with two friends this weekend.
Very very good. Starting with an amuse bouche of broccoli soup - delicious. I had ham hock terrine with coconut bread followed by Pork Belly. Intense flavours, melt in the mouth texture. Others enjoyed Chicken Supreme, Monkfish.
Once again too stuffed to make it through a desert. A decent bottle of Syrah made it a good value meal at around £25 per head.
The ambinece of the room is ideal. Entirely different at night than at lunchtime where it feels kinda califormian. Service fine but the waiting staff seem a little shy.
The maitre 'd is welcoming and helpful without being overbearing.
I love this restaurant and feel that us denizens of N&E 17 are blessed to have it. Forget about Central London eateries and star chefs - this is the real deal. Come, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely excellent.
I've been going to this place for a while now and every time I'm more impressed with the quality of the food. It is quite honestly - superb.
The location is a little odd but do not let that deter you. Situated next to the canal, the interior is classy with cool art work dotted around the place. There is a cocktail area with big leather sofas and a barman that is willing to make any cocktail you require (and good at it).
Relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere with good service and jaw droppingly good food.
I took some friends there recently and one girl nearly climaxed with the first mouthful of her starter!! (Maybe slightly encouraged by the amount of cocktails she'd had).
If you live in North/East London (or anywhere within 50 miles for that matter) you really should try this place out. It's not the cheapest place but for the quality of food - it's unbeatable.
See for yourself.
