Had my second visit to The Lock last night, a special 30th birthday treat with my boyfriend. The food was absolutely sublime and the service attentive without being over the top and cloying which often ruins things for me.
I've eaten in some top notch establishments in London and Europe and the food at The Lock is beyond compare, whilst at the same time being reasonably priced.
I even couldn't resist the banana in the pre-desert amouse bouche and anyone who knows me will tell you how much I absolutely despise that evil fruit! Who knows, next time they might even get me to eat rocket willingly!

I first discovered The Lock restaurant when I was searching a restaurant for my wedding reception in the area of the post code N17 in North East London.
The manager is very friendly. He helped us choosing an appropriate menu according to our budget and the diversity of guests we had (Italian, French, English). He invited us for a menu testing.
Before the wedding we also went twice (once with our futur witnesses and once with my parents) to the restaurant to experience the place.
We all loved the food, atmosphere, service, plus it's pretty good value for money.
The other pus side is the beautiful garden where we drank our 1st glass of Champagne and where the smokers were able to go between meals.
The only negative point is we sometimes calls the waiters to remember to bring more bottles of wines on the tables, but all the staff are very friendly.
The restaurant is closed on Saturday lunch but it opens for private party so we had the restaurant just for us, it was fantastic.

Did the diner Snailporridge actually go? Seems to have missed any relevant points to justify his review!
The Lock continues to go from strength to strength and here in Tottenham we are one lucky neighbourhood to have such a fantastic place. The food is heavenly, innovative and constantly delicious. On my last visit I had steamed crab lasagne, beef forerib to share and caramel masarpone with pistachio biscuits. It was quite simply the best meal I have had so far this year and great value for money. The whole experience was compounded by the friendly and knowledgeable service and is one of the reasons I shall keep going back. Excellent.

Very very disappointed. food well below par and service abominable. Nothing that the 'Gordon Ramsay' treatment couldnt solve. We did not leave a tip on purpose.
We tipped them in accordance!!

Had dinner with two friends on Friday 13th April and enjoyed it very much.
Food was beautifully presented and skillfuly cooked and very reasonable prices.
My husband had breast of lamb with polenta cake to start and even after only getting a tiny bit to taste, I thought it one of the best starters I've ever eaten. His main course of pork (and crackling) on black pudding and bubble and squeak was also wonderful.
I decided to have two starters and a pudding. I had salmon with potatoe salad and a delightful crab lasagna with tomatoe and cocunut sauce. I also had the cholocate pudding which for me, was overcooked.
However, we all enjoyed our evening and will return.

An oasis of Inventive fine dining, in the badlands of North London. Had heard much of this place over the last year and finally made it to this embarassingly local restaurant. It was a Friday night, booked on the same night. We were pleasantly supprised by the laid back funky decor. This was just the begining, We weren't prepaired for just how good the food would be, or by how proffesional and friendly the service would be. It made a romantic night out Sublime.
My only regret is that they were not fuller, as I believe they deseve to be packed at all times

We went to the Lock couple of days ago attracted by great reviews and a “deal” £26 for 5 courses.
Lets start with the “deal”. It is not 5 courses, but 3 courses + 2 in- betweens (tiny soup and before the dessert – little panacotta. Normally it is something cleaning the palate like champagne or mint sorbet or avocado ice cream and not another dessert…).
Another thing, you actually have to choose the most expensive dish for this to be any deal, as most 3 course ala carte meals would cost there £17-£23.
Also, I don’t quite understand all the great reviews. Everything there was tasteless. For starters we had king prawns with fennel and scallops with plantain. Sounds good, but when a tiny mould of white staff arrived surrounded by 6 slices of cucumber, I would never guess what it was if I haven’t read the menu. No taste or sign of prawns and no fennel flavour, but very abundant cream fraise.
3 very bland scallops sitting on well caramelised (read: very sweet) plantain slices also didn’t quite inspire.
The mains: see bass and duck breast, were equally disappointing. No flavour and somehow luck of finesse.
Chocolate fondant was nice. I haven’t tried the Rockford on rye bread with figs, but my partner was forced to eat it with a spoon (not easy), as they have not provided any other cutlery for desserts.
Service was good, but the bread was brought only after we asked and the soups arrived. When we finished our drinks nobody asked if we wanted more…
Also interior was not my cup of tea – big BLUE walls…
We won’t be back and I would not recommend.

This restaurant is fantastic!
The service is great, the food (all of it bought fresh from the local area) is amazing and great value for money. I would heartily recommend it too anyone who loves their food and wine.
Definitely on par, if not better than some of the finer restaurants in London.

Fantastic food. I have been several times and have not yet been disappointed.
The steak for two is an event in itself and I would come back time and time again for this on it's own. All the food is sourced locally which is a nice touch.
The staff are attentive but not overbearing, the atmosphere is cosy and the prices not overly high for the quality of the food.
Unfortunately closed at the moment due to flooding (!) or I'd be going there this weekend. But when they open up again I'll be one of the first through the door.
