We have visited this restaurant many times, and in the past it has always been a really special meal, a real gormet 'experience'. But our last visit was very dissapointing.

The food was OK, but certainly nothing particualrly special. and the prices were as always on the high side and with no staff actually ever breaking out a smile, you wonder if they really want to be there or perhaps that is the brief (??) and with a 12.5% service charge added to EVERYTHING they don't have to smile !

Always reliable for excellent food and attentive service, Thackeray's only let itself down on Saturday night by 'managing' not to be able to get six glasses out of a bottle of champagne. I've seen this restaurant trick before as a way of selling 2 bottles instead of one but I expect better from a place such as this. Our table of six enjoyed the chef's tasting menu. The bill for 6 including drinks beforehand and wine during the meal came to an eye-watering £550 but we don't come here often and it was worth it.

Fabulous food, good background music and attentive friendly service creates relaxed dining atmostphere for what must be one of the best restaurants in Kent. Sunday lunch menu is probably the best value as a la carte in the evenings can be a little pricey. Wondering what caused them to lose their Michelin Star, the food really is top rate.
