Kalendar

Kalendar has got it sussed: a perfect bistro menu includes everything from pastas, risottos and soups to roasts, wild salmon fish cakes and excellent burgers. Starters are plentiful and mains too. Desserts are to die for...rich chocolate cakes, subtle lemon cakes, gorgeous biscuits and pastries, crumbles with homemade custard. And if you're a cheese-lover, their cheese board is also perfect because they have all the cheeses in a deli counter, so you can 'create your own' board!
Breads are fresh and homemade...all the meats are from Swain's Lane Organic butchers next door...milk used is organic too.
There is a very decent wine list and the coffees and teas are excellent. Even have nice touches like fresh ginger tea and delicious milk shakes.
Inside became non-smoking recently, which is such a breath of fresh air for a cigarette-hater like myself. Outside smoking is allowed - would be nice to see it banned there too, as it's rather compact and often blows in your face from other clients.
All in all, this place has never disappointed - I have eaten here so many times, with different people and because of the excellent variety, value for money and quality, one can never get bored.
Plus it's right by Hampstead Heath so a perfect way to end a lovely long walk...
GO!!!

the perfect place to; feel elegantly bourgeois, admire one's fellow diners, & their enviable lifestyles, soak in the Hampstead/Highgate relaxed, comfortable ambience, and eat some mighty fine organic fare.
The various breads are delicious, the salads sublime, the coffee organic milk treats, & the service friendly & efficient.
A very happy experience all round whatever the time of day.
