Patara (Beauchamp Place)

I took my wife to this restaurant for her birthday last week and after reading the reviews here, we were really excited. We have been to Patara in Fulham a number of times and always had a great time. We were really disappointed by Beauchamp Place.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were noticed by the waiting staff but roundly ignored for about 2 minutes before anyone was kind enough to show us to our table. When we got there it was about 10 mins before anyone could be bothered to take our drinks order, and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. When the waiters did have time for us they were very helpful, however.

The tables were very close together which meant that we heard quite a lot of the very loud guy sitting next to us and had to struggle to hear what each other were saying.

The food was very much comparable to what we have had previously at Fulham Road (same menu), but not overly generous - for instance I had the lamb curry which included only 3 pieces of meat and quite a lot of gravy.

The bill also took a long time to arrive and I was quite close to asking them to remove the 12.5% service charge, which I felt was totally undeserved in this case.

All in all this was a really disappointing experience, particularly after the glowing reviews on here. We will be going back to Fulham Road in future.

Two of us just dropped in on a Wednesday around 7.30pm. We had to finish by 8.30pm as they had reservations. They actually turned down quite a lot of people after us.. so booking in advance is recommended! We will definately return to this restaurant for another meal - it was simply amazing.

The best thai we have had so far. An interesting menu offering a good selection of meats and fish. I had the wild boar and my partner had the calf's cheek, and for starters we shared scallops and lamb skewers. All dishes came in good time - very hot so tell the chefs to do it mild (if you can't handle the burn). Make sure you have some water. The calf's cheek is very very soft.. so don't order it if you're not keen on mushy meat.

Our meal came to about £31 per head (we didn't have any wine or dessert).

Wonderful experience, nice atmosphere and keen waiters. it's a fairly small restaurant so it's not suitable for big parties.

We will definately visit again when we're around!

We have eaten here 4 times over the last few months, and this restaurant is quite simply, superb. It is far better than the sister restaurant on Fulham road, where they appear too busy to cope and the service and food can sometimes reflect this.

The Beauchamp Place branch is a far more civilised and pleasant dining experience, the menu is the same, but the service is better, and the food even better than the already very good Fulham Road.

If you've been to Fulham Road and been disappointed, do try this one as it is one of London's best Thai experiences.

Two of us went for dinner. I can honestly say I have never had better Thai food in London. The food was amazingly good. Service was charming. If you fancy Thai, do not hesitate to book. Excellent.
