I agree with the reviewer who said the food is not very good quality and is pre-prepared. At least this is the case with the take-away suya. I tried the lamb suya with jollof rice after an evening out and at £5.99 for a take away I felt it was not good value for money compared to what you can get for a similar price in the area (delicious Turkish kebabs or Chinese across the street). The only thing that appeared to be freshly cooked was the lamb and even the fried plantains were pre-fried. The lamb itself was quite bland even though it was spicy.
It’s a shame because I was looking forward to finding alternative take away option in the area. Not a great representation of Nigerian food, though to be fair I have not tried the restaurant.

Well, i've always had regular meals at Obalende. Their service is one of the best, if not the best amongst African restaurant. It is possible Seroy went there on a day he was verily hungry. One needs to attribute some patience when going to restaurants in order to receive the right food we want.

I saw the advert on Ben Tv, impressive!. then decided to visit them on my last summer holiday with my foreign partner. First the take away branch at peckham-Here it was very ok, had a nice taste of about everything they had and got the description to the resturant in Hackney.
The next day, we were there sitting and waiting for the much advertised food. Very sorry to sat this, I was highy dissapointed. it was eating in a Mama-put joint food in Apapa or Yaba. The service was poor. I really regretted wasting my time and appertite hoping for something better. The price was not a problem, i just wanted something nice to impress my partner.

As an African (not British-African) restaurant the service is very very appalling, the staff are rude and unhygienic.
They signature dish (Suya) is not authentic, over priced, very small portion, dry, and lacking in taste.
As for their food, it is not freshly prepared but cooked and stored in the fridge. Again it lacks taste and authenticity.
I would not recommend Obalende Suya to anyone.

As a British-African, I have been searching for some time now for a place to impress my friends on African couisine. I finally found it at the Obalende Sya(I prefer to call this Suya) Express. I took some of my friends there recently. The meal/drinks/service was superb and made me feel at home. My friends were also impressed. I hope to visit again soon.
