I've been eating Japanese food in London for 20 years, and this is my favourite. The quality of the food is excellent (particularly recommend the edamame, the sashimi carpaccio with garlic and the hot mackerel with ginger); the service is very friendly and pretty efficient; and the prices (given the quality) are very low.

If it's not too far out of your way, you'd be crazy not to try it.

No surprise it's always pretty full and mainly with Japanese diners.

My favourite sushi place in London, I have been a client for now 3 years and never been disappointed.

Good service and fantastic food.

I've ordered this evening take away order, and Philadelphia was disgusting, the worst I ever had. With bonito flakes on the top instead salmon. I called restaurant to give them the feedback and asked to exchange for something else but they refused (because I tried one piece). So,” great” service, never ever anymore to this place.

Good food, but really awful service. I sat at the sushi bar and halfway through my meal I was told to move further along the bar around the corner so another diner could have my seat. No explanation given, just "we need this seat". Turned out the diner who needed it was a Japanese businessman, possibly one of their regulars. Maybe I'd been sitting in his favourite spot. Whatever the reason, it's no way to treat customers, shunting them around like cattle. And as if this wasn't bad enough, requests for top ups of tea and water were acknowledged, then quietly forgotten. We ended up asking four different waitresses for more tea, before it finally turned up. After the terrible service, I couldn't believe service charge was automatically added to the bill. Naturally we refused to pay it. Like I said, the food is good, but boy does the service leave a bad taste in the mouth.

I went to there with my wife about a few weeks ago and we had a great time. The food, Sushi and Carpaccio were gorgeous. Always lovely to have Edamame with Hot Sake as well! We were at Sushi bar. So, it was fun to see how the Sushi chefs cook Sushi and Sashimi!! Other lovely thing, the waiter who wore a head band has served us and he was completely awesome! Very polite and friendly. Though the service charge has been included, we gave him a tip! He knew what service is. I and my wife were really comfortable to be in the restaurant.

We'll definitely visit again!

Might be the best sushi I've had in London. Service was typical of the Japanese restaraunts I've been used to: English not so good but very friendly and accommodating. I don't mind that one bit. The sushi was perfect. Right size, right temperature, good rice. We didn't get much of the cooked food, but I love that the menu shows pictures of everything. Not terribly cheap at £80 for two of us, but then again we sat at the sushi bar and ordered a la carte. We also went through a lot of sake. You could save a bit if you just had a beer and a sushi set at a table. Can't wait to go back, and can't wait to try more dishes on the extensive menu.

I’ve dined at Kiraku many times and every time has been a blissfully decadent experience.

The sushi and sashimi are always beautiful.

Yakitori is more fun than the usual fare, offering an interesting selection of grilled meats and veg.

The staff are always polite and charming.

For me the best place to eat in the area.

Friday, November 27, 2009 - Aside from grumbling about the price differentials, Kiraku is a cracking Japanese restaurant. Sushi is better than most, but not the best; The rest of the cooked food is of a high standard. You'll usually find Japanese business men tucking away a warm dinner at Kiraku and in my opinion, it is competitively priced when compared against it's counterparts in Central London, inspite of my rants. If you are a Tomoe regular, or a Sake no Hana regular you will probably find that Kiraku offers bang for the buck.

Friday, August 28, 2009 - The tonkatsu too was delicious - very crispy and porky and not at all greasy. The little pouring jar on the tray contained all the tonkatsu sauce you could ever want and more. Blai had the yaki zakana set, grilled fish set (around 10.00, I think) and chose the mackerel over the salmon. Two generous pieces of the oily fish arrived with crispy skins and a soy based sauce to pour over. The fruit to end our meals was very sweet and fresh and I loved the variety they offer with each meal.
