Orford Saloon Tapas Bar

This place is the best restaurant in the whole east of london, maybe even in london. The food is excellent - every time. The service is always superb and the owner is hands on and cares that everyone who goes is happy. I have been so many times and can only hope it doesn't get too popular, as then it will be harder for us regulars to get tables...this is the best little secret around!!

It was a great experiencefor my family. Everything from the great service and wonderful food. my two children loved being included in the ordering process, wich is unusual as normally the parents are asked, they were asked their choice of drink, given menu's and their food order taken. They felt "like a grown up" in my daughters words. The Flamenco guitarist was excellent and made the whole experience enjoyable.

I too can't let anyone get away with saying such negative things about this restaurant - I have eaten there at least 10 times in the last year, with friends my parents and my partner.

On every occasion the food and service has been excellent and even when it comes to my parents who are fussy about where they sit - they have only ever been extremely accommodating.

I have recommended to a number of people and no one has ever come back to me saying they didn't have a good time - in fact the completely opposite and have gone on to recommend it to their friends. It's no wonder you have to book a bit in advance - it's becoming that popular.

We love this restaurant and have been regulars for a long time. We have been to many tapas restaurants in London and Europe and this is a high quality establishment. My fiancée is Hispanic and knows a thing or two about tapas.

We were therefore completely mystified to read the two recent negative reviews. We have always found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable and nothing is too much for them. Indeed the owner went out of his way to obtain some information for us that we needed.

We are not connected to the restaurant and felt we had to respond. The appalling grammar and spelling in the two reviews speaks volumes!

I can understand why there are mixed reviews about this place. On my first visit I was suprised to find such a place in my new neighbourhood of Walthamstow. The restaurant is very well decorated and we found the atmosphere and food great. However our plates were whisked away quite quickly and we were under the impression that our table was required as they completly forgot one dish in their rush. But as we are local we are going back again for a second viewing to ascertain if the Orford is friendly enough to become a regular haunt.

I agree totally with the last review. We are regulars and we are never disappointed. Everything about The Orford Saloon is great. The food is fab, as are the staff, all of them. It is so relaxed and the whole place has a real lovely feel about it, so much so, my Mother and I often go on a Saturday lunchtime and sometimes we are the first there, but it still has a nice cosy feel about it.

The comments made by Jaime, I just could not believe and would almost think a rival sent them in!!!!

So to sum up. Great food, great staff, great atmosphere, great wine, and just to add, the owners would never be rude to customers, if they were they must have ahhad a good reason or maybe Jaime misunderstood!

Owner very rude and we we weren't rude with him,so it means he got a problem not us i agree with the Jaume's review,food is ok but owner very very rude and the review after Jaume's one seems is the answer of the owner,open your eyes and just see how you treat peole,we are a group of five girls have been several times but thinking to stop going there just cause the rudest owner just that,but the food good.

I couldn't let the previous review be the first one people see. I have eaten in the orford saloon with my husband and family on over 20 ocassions and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and the staff are more than helpful, friendly and polite. I often think you get back what you put in and this customer must have been a pain to warrant a rude reception from the owner.

As for personal digs at waiting staff....... well that just proves what an unfriendly person he must be.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Infact I am trying to get through on phone right now to book a table for this weekend!

Visitted this place yesterday and highly dissapointed,service very poor,food coudn't find anything behind garlic as padron peppers wich i had before in another place were wonderfull in here just too oilly and too salty,garlic in a "white wine"nothing behind garlic and oil coud feel"too oily and under cooked"manager or owner very rude when we complaind about our dishes he shoud learn how to treat or what's a costumer service,as spaniard woudn't recommend this plce to anyone as tables are too close each other and no space even to stand up to go to the toilette,sorry but walthamstow's solution doesn't work at least for my point of view for many facts"food really bad cooked and manager very rude and the tall waitress very dodgy.Sorry but need to work hard this place.

Excellent venue for a fun evening or lunch out.

Many of the caveats and criticisms on here are people believing that they will be getting haute cuisine in a designer luxury restaurant.... in Walthamstow!!!

Wake up - similar to Chez Liline in Finsbury park this is a superb restaurant doing accesible regional food with some nice flourishes.

It is way ahead of anything else in the area - which isn't suprising as most of the competition doesn't involve using knives and forks.

Comparing it to the La Tasca chain is insulting!!! Navarros is a fair comparison.

People complaining about portion size should look up Tapas in a dictionary.

I rarely book but prefer to sit at the bar sharing 4 or 5 dishes washed down with a couple estrellas.

Its local, its fun, its fairly priced and its packed.
