Toresano

As an English-born Catalan, I honestly think Toresano has the most authenic Spanish dishes in London. Unfortunately most Tapas bars in London taste like they are Englishised in some way and they don't taste like the original ones you eat in spain. However, the tapas and paellas in Toresano actually do taste like the ones that my mom- or native other Spaniards cook.

The prices are a little expensive, but its a fancy restaurant anyway, and the owner is a friendly Spanish chap.

We went to this restaurant on a Thursday night and although it was quiet the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, and very relaxed. The service was excellent, with the waitress ensuring a quick and professional service and the owner himself coming to check that everything was to our taste and having a little chat with us in Spanish to add a personal touch. Although it was our first time at Toresano, we were treated as regulars. The food was delicious and the presentation made it even more appetizing. We had tapas for starters (pulpo a la gallega and setas con gambas). As main courses we had the halibut steak, which was tender and fresh, and the suckling pig, quite tasty. The desserts (crema catalana and rice pudding) were lovely too. We will definitely be back!

The best local spanish tapas restaurant this side of madrid, the food is superb and service first class. The value is amazing and the choice of tapas excellent.

Probably the best Spanish restaurant in

England and they serve an almond tart (tarta di Santiago) which we have never found other than in Spain! The food is just fantastic, the staff are really charming and it has a very calm and friendly atmosphere. We went for a quick meal on New Year's Eve and the owner was quite happy that we had to get away quickly. Great place. Can't wait to go back!

We live locally and have dined at Toresano many times. The food is exceptionally good and very authentic - it is the only spanish restaurant that I have been to that lives up to the quality and amazing tastes found in good restaurants in Spain. I cannot rate it highly enough, the staff are efficient and friendly and the atmosphere is lovely - made more authentic by discrete samples of Spain in it's decor. We will be returning again and again and have already recommended it to friends who have all told us how much they enjoyed it (some of whom are Spanish friends thrilled to find a real taste of home).

Six of us dined at Toresano twice during a ten day visit to London in May, 2006. The owner, Isidro, was very pleasant and most helpful as was the entire staff. The menu was varied and all food was well prepared and tasty. We shared tapas and also sampled the main dishes. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
