I travelled miles to this place cos' I love Fish & Chips and I saw good reviews on the net. We were going to eat in, but the 'restaurant' was cramped and grubby and isn't even a cafe really. Frankly, at nearly 13 quid for 'sit in' cod & chips, it's almost as expensive as a lunch course at Gordon Ramsay's! So we opted to take away.
Cod, Chips & 'not mushy' peas (watery bullets) for two and bottle of coke came to nearly £20.00.... Doesn't strike me as good value for money BUT.. it did come in a nice cardboard box and it did look crispy ...until they drowned it in about half a cup of vinegar! I could just about accept it as a one off experience but everything got stuck to the tissue-like lining at the bottom of the box.
The moderately sized Cod was of good quality, but swamped by the excessive coating of beer batter, which is never as crispy as a good baking powder batter. You get to do this to me ...ONCE only!

I went to the Fish Kitchen last week with my boyfriend. We had a great meal, King Prawns in tempura, sword fish and tuna steak burger. More expensive than your average fish prices but very good quality. Friendly and quick service. Lots of people coming in for take away so obviously popular.

Actually just came onto the site to get the phone number to book to go again. Really surprised by negative reviews and had to redress the balance ... we went to Fish!Kitchen a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal. I had squid with chilli sauce, my husband had skate (which wasn't on the menu but the staff organised when he asked). The kids shared cod and chips. The portions were plenty big enough and everything was cooked very well. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. It wasn't cheap but we thought it was well worth the money.

Come off it. This place is rubbish, the food taste awful and the staff will do anything to make a buck.... the fish is too salty. over battered. And the portions are too small but because it is so awful you feel full.
Don't kid yourself, there are better places to eat.

This place is a joke. I went there this Saturday and we had haddock and chips, fish cake and chips and peas, among some other things. The fish was a the size of a mobile phone and then covered in loads of batter. There was so much batter that it was uncooked inside. Also the fish was not washed and was extremely salty. The staff were friendly but the food is uneatable. I will never go there again. There are too many decent fish and chips shops that serve better than that!

FINALLY Kingston gets a decent restaurant. You'd have thought with the river and the old market the place would be brimming with great eateries. But no. Fish!kitchen is a bit out of the town centre but I think it's worth the detour. Nice and informal, you know the fish is fresh and not dodgy, plus if you don't feel like fish and chips you can have fish kebabs and other healthy dishes. And all comes in at around £15 a head. So a bargain.
