Saravana Bhavan

Saravana bhavan , east ham has lost its quality completely.
We , a group of 5 , had south indian meals and I should say it was well below the standards in terms of taste and quality.
The meals was priced at £6.95 but was totally disappointing. There was no variety. Above all, the place is very congested. The overall cleanliness of the hotel is disappointing.
The menu is highly priced and the hotel with its current ambience and food quality is a definte no for a visit.

I'm a regular at this restaurant. fantastic tasty dishes, fast service, and very clean.
and , it's pure vegetarian. so the best choice for those who are vegetarian. non-vegetarian people may not like it that much.

Well, this was my first experience of South Indian food. I'm not a vegan but enjoyed the new taste and arrangement. I tried to go for the not so familiar tastes to appreciate it.
I had the South Indian Meal itself and Poori Masala. Very nice and recommended.
If you are not new to this kind of meal I suggest you try it. It is not too expensive. Depends on what you select from the menus.
The service was good - the guy had a memory of an elephant.
It may not appear highly decorated, but if you are hungry it is the place to go and eat bearing in mind there is no meat on the menu.
Service was good. Could make the menu clearer i.e. rice with yogurt should explain that it comes as a cold dish.

Very poor service!! Ordered 3 items which took 45 minutes to arrive! And the food was not worth the waiting. Chana masala resembled a chicken korma with too much spice and no taste. Overall a very bad experience.

Very bad experience. Though the food is good service very poor.
Takeaways - orders placed never packed completely. Always items are missing.
Suggest everyone never to pick orders without checking them properly.
Rest assured when you inform them about the missing items they never refund the money nor deliver the stuff home.

Food is good. But service is better when compared to other south indian restaurants in east ham
I had the same experience as others. For the first time my life , the guy taking the order has asked me vacate the table because others were waiting.

Fantastic food, really spicy and tasty, been here several times and amazing value for money.
My companion and I yesterday visited an indian veg restaurant in Drummond Street and despite the food being quite nioce we both commented how bland it was compared to this place.
In terms of the service, it is more of a canteen style place rather than a curry house, you can tell that straight away rom the decor and cutlery and also the clientele. As long as you're not expecting anything else the service is fine IMO.

As a Sri Lankan native I can safely vouch for the great food. The portions are generous, the spices are uncompromisingly authentic, and all of the dishes I've tried are extremely tasty (my particular favourite is the dosa)! This is the only Indian restaurant to which I would take my (foodie) fiancee from south London.
The place is always full of Indians and Sri Lankans, need I say more...

We ( a family of 4 + gradparents ) had been to london last month and were resided in ilford travelodge. After trying out a few places in East ham, i felt saravana bhavan was excellent value for money. The staff are very friendly and work relentlessly to make sure everything is done to customer satisfation. The food is excellent taste and is pretty much similar to what is available in south india ( as i am from bangalore ). The idlis and vaada are a bit firm but rest of the items are fantastic. Rava dosa was a real tasty one with real crispiness and excellent sides. Plate meals and other items were also extremnely good
The place is clean and there are a couple of students girls who relentlessly work hard without wasting time and we were very pleased to be eating. Infact we had food everyday in saravana bhavan.
The toilets + sink is extremely clean with staff check every hour and i must say one of cleanest for indian hotels. Well done staff of saravana bhavan.
Keep it up

FOOD QUALITY DOES NOT MATTER WHEN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT EVEN WORTH SPENDING A PENNY IN THE PLACE.
EVEN WHEN THE TABLES ARE EMPTY WE CANNOT SELECT OUR OWN TABLE AND ASKED BY THE STAFF TO SIT AT A PLACE CONVINIENT FOR THIER SERVINg AND TO TOP IT ALL WAS VERY RUDE ..........................................................
WE WERE REGULAR AND IGNORED THIS A COUPLE OF TIMES BUT THEN WERE VERY DISGUSTED AND THAT WAS THE LAST TIME WE ATE AT SARAVANA BHAVAN, EASTHAM
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY ONE ELSE EITHER.............................................
