Kyoto is back and better than ever! I went there tonight as soon as I realised it reopened. The decor is a little more trendy than old Kyoto (I really miss the Ultraman figures!), but I was impressed with the red lit-up bench seats.

Kim, the sushi chef is, as ever, lovely and welcomed us back like old friends, even shaking my partner's hand. I think he noticed my child-like excitement that they are open again...the (new?) staff are very nice, very helpful and fast. The food as usual can't be beaten, I still stand by the fact they have the best sushi in London! And tonight was no exception, the same wonderful quality is there. My only disappointment is that the menu looks changed slightly and I couldn't find that fantastic Kyoto Salad - seared tuna with black pepper on a bed of watercress. But it could have been renamed as something else and in my haste I didn't pay any attention. Kim, if you read this, bring back Kyoto Salad! I'll pay extra for it!

My partner had to keep trying to quieten me down from the sheer excitement that the place is open again. I'm still reeling from it, we go every year for my birthday, I try and drag my friends out to it when ever I had a chance (we're going to have a girly night there soon! Apologies in advance to any customers having to deal with us yammering on like hens), and introduced at least a dozen people from work to Kyoto who were really disappointed that the old place closed, but I'm trying to let them all know it's reopened.

Wishing the very best of luck to Kyoto and future prospects. Blow the competition out of the water! I'm sure you will!

I was very happy when I read on this website that the restaurant was to reopen. I was in Soho over the weekend, so went for dinner with some friends. As previous reviewers have said, the new Kyoto is right next door to where the restaurant used to be in Romilly Street.

It was really nice to see some of the old staff in the new restaurant and we were welcomed back like a long lost friends. The new restaurant is bigger than the old one and has a section at the back.

The service is still very friendly and the staff take a real pleasure in looking after you. The food is very similar in style to the old restaurant although they do have a new menu with some different items which I'm looking forward to trying in the near future. The sushi and sashimi were excellent value and super fresh.

We went with friends who are new to Japanese food and also very familiar with the style of cuisine, we all left feeling very happy with our evening out.

This restaurant really deserves to be as successful as the previous one. There are some great places to eat in Soho, we can now welcome back an old favourite.

My husband and I adore this restaurant! We live locally and must have been there literally many dozens of times over the past few years. The sushi is marvellous - fresh, skilfully prepared, beautifully presented - while other dishes (udon, tempura, the homely katzu curry) are pretty much flawless, especially when one takes into account the very reasonable (not least by West End standards!) prices.

We have never found the staff anything less than utterly charming and helpful. Kim, the sushi chef, is both extremely talented and a very nice, friendly man. (Indeed, the one negative review I've seen on this site is so far off the mark I cannot help but wonder whether a competitor restaurant is playing dirty tricks by posting a mischievous, entirely inaccurate review?)

We were heart-broken when Kyoto shut recently, but were delighted this week (1 May) to see that it was re-opening next door to its previous site in Romilly Street. We are counting the days until we can enjoy Kim's amazing creations once again!

I'm really missing this restaurant and hope it does open again soon. I must have visited about 6 times over 6 months after my girlfriend took me there for my birthday. The food was excellent, the service was always good and the price was amazing.

So sore, but restaurant Kyoto, no wonder it closing. Service ver ver bad and food sometimes ver ver bad too. I and others many times finding hairs in dinner and ver ver rude and cheeky to customers. Not nice hearing arguments from staff over mundane matterings. I hear and understand but even Gaijin ver ver unhappy.

Maybe if want to making new restrant, pulling sox up Hai?

Unfortunately, this restaurant - which was one of my favourites in London - has closed down.

We've been back a couple of times in the last two weeks to check if it had reopened, but sadly not - and the tables & chairs are gone.

Just didn't want anyone to be disappointed if they planned to turn up there on a night out!
