I couldn't agree more that this is easily the best value Italian in London. You might say that nobody has been to every Italian in London, but if you eat out in Golders Green you've probably been to half of them. I don't know how all those Italian restaurants are all surviving.
I'm just grateful Locale is in the suburbs, because it would be rammed every night if it was central London. My Dutch father-in-law insists we go there every time he's over to visit, and I don't blame him.
It's friendly, cosy and warm and the food is superb, as is the wine list. When I travel abroad, I'm usually frustrated that the food in London restaurants doesn't quite live up to the 'real thing'. I don't have that feeling when I'm in Italy, because I know Locale is just up the road.

Locale is a charming restuarant in every sense - friendly staff, cosy rustic decor and great food. There are far too many Italian restaurants in Golders Green these days but Locale is head and shoulders above them all.

Found this lovely little place for a Sunday evening dinner with 8 people. They accomodated us well and the food was fantastic! Tuna steak cooked to perfection, huge serving sizes of pasta and nice house wine, all priced resonably. Service was great and the atmosphere chilled and relaxed. Definitely recommeneded!

Excellent food - perhaps the best priced italian restaurant in London.
The food is always good (though i recommend the grilled squid!) and the atmosphere is just right - neither too stuffy nor too relaxed.
The standard of service fluctuates but it is mostly very good.
