Durum Ocakbasi

Have been going for 15 years to this restaurant. Tried many other Turkish restaurants but always come back here. Their meat is the best and always consistent which is all you ask for. That is a sign of a good eatery. If you want lovely atmosphere and dining experience it may not be your cup of tea.

However if you want good food this is the place. I always take my business clients there and they all love it.

I had dinner to this restaurant with a group of friends.

I ordered Fried Calamari!!! I ate nothing of WORST in my life that such Calamari. Obviously Frozen, Calamari inside where not existent, only a small ring of Calamari of the diameter of 2mm!! The rest oily battered stuff that made the rings big and interesting to see.

Extremely extremely untasty and bad. The cost for such dish..that even in the worst take away you can have was expensive also.

Atmosphere more as take away than restaurant. Service OK, salads good.

If you go there, please avoid Calamari, maybe kebab or meat dishes are better.

You people are all mad, my son and myself have been munching the food here for three years now, we love it and would not eat kebabs/turkish food anywhere else. The meat is very fresh and extremely tasty. Fools the lot of ya!!

The entire Caputsnik family eat here regularly!

I have been there many times, i really love the food mostly the turkish kebab also i would like to say that it is a very hygienic place. I am planning to go as soon as possible.

I can't believe how low the score is for this restaurant. I have eaten there only twice, but that is twice in two weeks due to the quality of the food. The Salmon was flaky and juicy, I haven't had such lovely fish in a restaurant in such a long time and it was just what I was craving! I only ordered the salmon and was served a selection of dips and breads and dessert free of charge on both visits! I was very impressed with this restaurant and will go many times in the future if the quality of food stays the way it is.

This is a kebab shop with seats.

I've visited this establishment a few times now and I've done my level best to like it. But I really don't.

In the first instance I find it intimidating. The staff do shout at each other, as I believe at least one other reviewer has also mentioned. There are too many tables around, which is understandable, but not pleasant for the customer. The speed of the service isn't actually that bad, but I find myself on edge, as though I need to watch my back. And my mouth. It's just too tense.

The food is actually okay and, as such, have enjoyed the consumption element of my visits here, even if I am doing so out of fear.

Can't really give much for atmosphere. It's a bit loud and echoey and there is not much in the way of ventilation. With the open barbecues at the front it can get quite hot. Not so bad in the winter, but a veritable sauna in the summer. Wear light clothing if you go.

Money-wise, it's reasonably cheap relative to other restaurants but not when one considers what it really is. Think kebab shop that lets you sit down and you're there. So, if you add about 75% onto the price you would normally pay for a doner or a shish, you're on the right lines.

Not sure I'll be back. If I'm going to buy a kebab, I'll get one from the takeaway and go home with a beer.

Have to agree with many of the previous comments - good and bad. Food can be delicious and is very good value.

Service can be good - but can also be appallingly bad.

Also agree with previous comments that the restaurant is too cramped.

If you want to be sure of a good time - this isn't the place to go. Sorry.

DONT GO HERE..... if you do... take a camera, its all very comical

Disappointing!

Very disappointing and highly over-rated

This used to be a guarantee for a decent tasting meal for a reasonable price. However, the latest time I went the service was poor and far too overcrowded. Sadly, the food has worsened, with it being hard to distinguish between the different types of meats! The best thing is the free chilli sauce and garlic sauce they give with the mains

I am not planning to go there again is finish for me...

we got a new year eve dinner with my all colleques from aldershot to durum ocakbasi. it was lovely dinner, meats are fresh and salads are gorgeous thanks alot again dudes

it was lovely, althought to write a realtictic review i think ppl needs to know turkish cusine well, always perfect
