This is an old-school Chinese restaurant roughly between Aldgate and Tower Hill stations. It's frequented by the suits of the area, peaking in attendance towards the end of the working week. It's fairly quiet (and much nicer) at other times.
I say old-school because it hasn't gone through the Chinese-restaurant equivalent of the gastropub conversion (like Thai Square). This is as it was.
The food is actually quite good. I was with a very large party, so we ordered almost one of everything and I made sure I tasted as much as I could. And the service that came with it was of a similarly high standard.
Obviously I'm going to rate the atmosphere highly, since I prefer the old-school approach with it's soft(er) furnishings that are kinder to the hard of hearing. Lots of noise-absorbing surfaces that allow one to hear what is being said. Nice.
It's a little pricey, but only slightly. This is the City after all. But they don't seem to take advantage of this fact. I enjoyed it.
