I also want to complain about smollensky's! I celebrated a birthday there recently with 20 friends but the treatment we got from the staff was terrible! I'm not talking about them being unattentive, more like abusive, and it was the manager!!! Had it not been for strength of mind it would have ruined the night!

Went here for a meal last Friday and should have realised something was up when there were only three tables occupied on a Friday night! Where to start... the wine tasted like vinegar and when sent back it took four of them to decide there was MAYBE something wrong with it before I got a replacement. The salmon tasted like cardboard... it had obviously been overcooked and the burger was cold. Truly terrible experience... there are so many better places to eat in Richmond... avoid this one like the plague!

The food here might not be expensive, but it's not very nice either. As the burger section was the biggest on the menu, we thought we'd be safe sticking to these. Our classic burgers took a long time to arrive, but obviously hadn't been freshly prepared. They were overcooked, dry and slightly burnt at the edges; the bun was huge and dry. The chips very average, as if cooked from frozen. The whole meal was tasteless and poor value for money.
It was our waitress's first night there and she was very friendly and helpful. But despite being a Thursday night the place was virtually empty, lacked any atmosphere and we wouldn't return or recommend it.

I was initially impressed by the stylish surroundings of Smollensky's - however this soon faded when I was served with the worst steak I've ever seen. It contained no blood whatsoever - in fact it looked like an anaemic piece of veal that had been boiled for a few hours before being branded with a few "sear" marks so it looked as if it had been grilled. When I complained, the manager assured me that the steak was "properly cooked" and not pink inside - I then pointed out I had in fact ordered a medium steak but had been served with a piece of old boiled leather with the texture of dry cardboard. I was then served another steak, which actually looked like real meat, but the damage was done. Definitely one to avoid.

Dreadful! Ate here 2 weeks ago on Saturday night. Service was painfully slow. We waited 40 minutes for 2 drinks, whilst others seated after us were served immediately.
Food was okay, but not an awful lot better than a fast food restaurant.
A poor addition to the High Street.

We tried Smollensky's Richmond last weekend and were just as dissapointed as the other people who have submitted a review. I sent my chicken burger back as it was undercooked. I had ordered satay sauce with the burger but what I got was a tiny portion of a mayonnaise based sauce, probably about 3 teaspoons and it tasted awful - definitely not satay! The wine was overpriced £6.10 for a 250ml glass. Not a good experience and we won't be goingback.

I went here yesterday with friends; the service was slow (although the restaurant was half empty), when the food was brought out they had got the order wrong, the food they had brought out was poor in quality; the fries were lukewarm and the burger was unspectacular. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip.

I have been to the Twickenham Smollensky's on a few occasions and have had a great time. Therefore for a Corporate Event last week, I suggested the Richmond restaurant as our company is based there. I booked for 13 of us and had the most terrible time with awful food and diabolical service!!!
We had to wait ages to put in orders and receive our food and when the food we actually got arrivedto us it was cold.
Due to this we complained and was met with hostile and rude staff and management who tried to justify it all because they had a new menu and has staff off sick!!!!
We have compalined direct to head office in writing and at present are awaiting a reply!!!
But at the moment we are totally put off as a copmpany and as individuals from visiting again!!!!

We needed a quick meal before a matinee visit to Richmond Theatre so I asked the waiter if we could be served and out in an hour. No problem, we were told. We ordered straight away. And waited ... and waited ... and waited. I kept asking where our burgers were - any minute now. It arrived fifteen minutes before we were due to leave and one of the orders was wrong. The fries with gravy were fries with a teaspoon of cold Bisto at the bottom of the bowl. I complained and they took 25% off the total bill but they were just hopeless. If they couldn't cook three burgers and fries in less than 45 minutes they should have told us. I had terrible indigestion all through the play!
