Visited on Friday 22nd February 2008.

Food highly recommended. We had the Madrasi Lamb, King Prawn Cochin, Fried Okra and Lemon Rice, all delicious. A couple of beers, two glasses of wine, some Pappadoms with pickles etc to start and Aloo Paratha with the main, all in, about fifty quid. Only slight criticism, the service is a little over the top, as the waiters are too attentive at times.

All in all, decent value for money and will definately go there again.

This restaurant is fab.

Visited the restaurant this Friday and had an excellent time with my friends.

We tried the complimentary pancake roll called Dosas that we offered to us and thouroughly enjoyed it. Very tasty and unsual.

The main course was even better and the service was just right. Not too in your face.

I have only just moved to East Finchley and would definately comeback for more.

Ok.... Where do i start. We were regulars of cochin for quite a while. Nearly every friday we were in there. One friday i made a reservation but funnliy enough on the way there had a car accident.... but still called to cancel.

To my complete horror the next day i was bombarded with calls and telephone messages from the manager asking why i didnt turn up. Then when i did actually get to speak to him i was interrogated. In my life i have never ever had this before from a restaurant, and this was what i had said...to which i was rudely told if you dont like it dont come back. Dont worry cochin i DEFINATELY wont be coming back.

We went there last night (18.12.07) and had a fantastic meal. The service was a bit slow however when the food arrived, we realised why we had to wait a bit longer than usual.

Try the masala dosa and madras king prawns, you won't regret it. I had a cinammon ginger icecream and my partner tried the mango icecream for dessert and they were amazing.

We dont like in the area however we will definately return. A great find.

This is definately one of the BEST indian places in north london. We think of ourselves as regulars as management are always friendly and will hand greet us. We never had to turn away (even though we rarely book a table) as they will always see to our needs in a quick and friendly way. Food is very very good. If it's not spicy enough ask them to make it more spice at no extra cost. Cochin is a definate YES!! Try the Chilli Panneer as a starter - it's realllyyyy good..Although a bit expensive it's always worth the money for a nice romantic OR fun evening out.

We love it! The service is always very good, the food is great. Very moreish! The only problem is that it is not always as hot as it could be. However, they have a great varied menu, we particularly enjoy their south indian curry.

A great local restuarant.

This diner serves seriously good food in a very friendly atmosphere. I have visited time and time again and it has been consistently good.

I go there regularly to eat the dosas. The curries are very moreish as well. They serve food in biodegradeable plates which is quite unique about this restaurant. A small and cosy restaurant with a good decor.

It is slightly expensive at £25 per head however, the food and service deserves the high price.

Do Not go to this restaurant. I just have been this evening. They charged £1.00 for the thinnest slices of lemon. I needed these becuase my 12 year son found the food too hot and needed to squeeze lemon on it to take away the spicyness. Also small portion of bite sized papadoms were £3.00. An additional £1.00 was added for pickles. 10% service charge was also taken automatically. This kind of action leaves a very bad impression that the restaurant is in it just for the money.

Have visited Cochin on a number of occasions and I keep coming back. The food is quite authentic South Indian (and I have visited that part of the world more than once so feel reasonably qualified to make the comparison). The dishes are well presented and tasty, without undue spice overkill on some of the hotter ones, and with an inspiring mellow tang in the milder offerings. I particularly enjoyed the dosa and the okra (unbeatable in my opinion!). Seafood dishes tend to be good rather than superb, whilst the lamb and chicken items are perfectly acceptable, if not the most original. Service is friendly and reasonably quick. The downstairs tables are slightly more secluded if you want a more peaceful meal. Decor is modern and spotless (so far) with some funky Indianesque touches. It can get busy so it's a good idea to book. All in all a decent choice for those looking to get away from the omnipresent tandoori eating house. My only real gripe is that the non-alcoholic (Cobra) beer is just as expensive as the alcoholic version!
