I went to Frankie's for a Christmas work lunch with fairly high expectations. Im not one to normally write reviews but this time I'd thought I'd make an exception due to this being one of the most appauling eating-out experiences Ive ever had.
Lets start with the service. There were few other people in the restaurant and they were expecting 35 of us for lunch. It took an hour to bring out the starters and even then people were waiting as they did not all come out at the same time. When there was only a choice of three starters, including soup, how difficult can it be? For the mains, when they eventually came, I had fish but we were never even offered a fish knife but instead left with a steak knife to eat with. On top of all this a lot of the plates were chipped which isn't what you'd expect from a Marco Piere White restaurant. Then there were the toilets. I went into the mens and the urinal was overflowing which was cleared up when mentioned to the staff. The women's toilets had boots-own hand wash as if they hadnt even bothered to make any effort or interest in maintaining any standards. Oh, and if you wanted ketchup it came in a heniz bottle fo authenticity sake. Foods could have been quite good if it hadnt been cold because the service was so absymal. On the good side...well the glitzy balls were quite fun I suppose. So heres a tip - never, ever, go here. Ever.

Had a 'can't be bothered to cook' dinner here the weekend of the Boat Race. Wasn't expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised. Nice burger and lasagne. Yummy zuchinni fritters. My ice cream was slightly melted and there wasn't enough hot choc sauce (never deny a pregnant lady her chocolate!!) which wasn't great. A lady was singing some light jazzy Ella in the background. All pretty good. Only thing is - the waiters were dressed to look like Italian boys on a night out in Chelsea so was pretty hard to work out who to ask for the menu... Only thing missing was the cashmere jumper thrown oh so casually across their shoulders!

I went to Frankie's in Putney on Monday with my boyfriend and two other friends. The restaurant was very quiet - only two other people there - but it was a Monday, so guess that was why. We ordered some bread and red wine and then we all fancied Frankie's burger for mains. Bread and wine was very nice and I thought it looked promising.
Then our burgers arrived. The bun was not toasted and still crinkled from the plastic bag they'd just taken it out from. The meet was hard and dry and didn't taste nice. Really poor quality. It was served with very few fries and even the mayo was bad - runny and watery.
Was very very dissapointed. Would have been just as happy to go to MacDonalds! Can't believe Marco Pierre White will put his name to such bad food!!

We went to Frankies in Putney after having been recommended by some friends. Admitedly we went on a Sunday night at about 8.30pm but we were the only people in the whole resturant - we almost walked out it felt to weird to be there on your own! The decor is great - like a 50's ganster italian resturant and the food is fantastic - we had the calamari and mussels to start and they were very generous portions! You could easily share. There is not a huge amount on the meun but what they do they do well. The only down side was the lack of atmosphere - where was everyone! All in all would be fantastic if it was buzzing. Am only going back if its busy enough that you need to book!
