It was fathers treat to my husband from our children who'd saved for this suprise. Biggest suprise was that there was no other people in the dinerie. We'd came here during the christmas break and vowed not to come back after i was disgusted by the manageress who at the time snubbed our concerns on the undercooked duck and in my opinion had shoes to big for an establishment in our neighbouring area. Her attitude better suited to a primary school telling children what to do. I decided to give it another chance being our local plus this time I wanted to enjoy some alchoholic drink with the meal - so that ruled out driving.

To sum it all up is that I was digusted at the service, quality and quantity of food and totally spoilt our day which was meant to be happy for my husband.

For the cost we were better off getting a cab out West and straight to Chinatown which not only wouldve been livelier but at least we wouldve got some service.

Life after Hue has not been good for Royal Margin. The food was bland, well over-priced, the portions were small, the service was non-existance. Bring back Hue

Very disappointing, over priced food. The pretentious setting may work in the West End but not in a residential area like Surrey Quays

I went today to Royal Margin with the idea of having roast duck as there is a few ducks hanging in a small preparation area at the entrance of this restaurant and they look fantastic!.

The restaurant also looks modern and clean.

I ordered soup and roast duck with vegetables and a coke. The soup was fine but a bit bland in flavour.

When my main meal arrived the portion of duck was ridicoulous!.I kept looking for meat but I was only getting skin (fat) and I finally found two tiny bits of meat on the bone.

When I tried to explain to the waiter, he replied a simple "speak to the chef !" and walked away.

I work in a restaurant myself as Restaurant Manager and I really hate complaining about service or food but this restaurant was a clear example of a bad service experience! I will never come back.

My husband and I visited this restaurant one Monday evening. The place was somewhat deserted, but that did not matter much to us.

The service was good, although a bit on the fast side in terms of time between courses. We ordered a spring roll to start, which unfortunately arrived with our crispy aromatic duck, rather than before, but this may have been because we only ordered one starter and they assumed that the crispy duck was a starter, in spite of the fact that we ordered a half, which would have been a rather large starter for one person! My husband found the duck to be a bit dry, but I thought it was nice.

The spring rolls were delicious and were not the usual skinny frozen ones that most other restaurants offer.

Our main meals were tasty, well presented, hot and clean-looking.

It was not the cheapest of meals at over £50, including one bottle of white wine, but overall, it was a good meal.

There were some teething problems since the Royal Margin took over Hue, such as a ridiculously long menu. You'll be surprised that the owner is still the same. We happened to give them another chance, months later, and to our surprise, the food was even better than it was during the Hue days. The Vietnamese menu is sadly reduced to 1 page. We had roast duck on a Sunday morning and it was crispy and fresh. I would highly recommend to give them a chance but to stick to the Chinese and Vietnamese dishes.

This restaurant replaces a great vietnamese retaurant called Hue after a management change.

Unfortunately the chef has also changed and the starters which once were the best feature are now fairly ordinary. Previously there was a good range including delicious grilled dumplings. Now there's an over reliance on deep fried items.

Until recently we were regular customers of Hue and Royal Margin but the atmosphere now is not relaxed. The service is over fussy with too many staff hovering for comfort.

On our last visit a soup starter failed to arrive and the subsuquent dispute at bill time, despite being regular customers, convinced us that we should eat elsewhere in future.
