Considering what good value it is, how great the food is, and how welcome Muna makes you feel, I can't believe that this place is always nearly empty. I've been a few times now, and its been great every time. Muna will talk you through the menu and make suggestions, she will tell you if she feels you've over-ordered or ordered dishes that are too similar. If you opt to eat in the traditional way the food comes served on injera on a large lazy Susan, so you can all share. Seven of us went for a leaving do and it was really good fun to eat communaly. We had two vegatarians with us and they were provided with their own meat free lazy Susan with out any fuss. Even as the last customers left in the restaurant at 11 on a week night we were offered complimentary tea rather than being ostentaiously cleared up around like you get in so many restaurants. Highly reccomended - if you live in Haringey its well worth a go!

I have never been to a restaurant more appealing than Muna's, the service was very good. My 10 friends and I were celebrating my birthday. we ordered the very delicious Meze which was a selection of all Muna's special dishes, my friends and I were able to sample a variety of most of the dishes on the menu so when i come again i will no what key dish i would prefer order. As it was my birthday Muna treated my friends and I to a cerimonial coffee with all the extra sweet trimmings we were very pleased with this. The restaurant's atmosphere is very cosy and welcoming. It may not be the West End but it is certianliy something you do not wont to miss out on.

My boyfriend and I had been walking past Muna's for ages and always wanted to try it. I've never eaten Eritrean or Sudanese food before and was keen to give it a go but was always put off as the restaurant was always almost totally empty. I took this as a bad sign. However we put our prejudices aside and spent a pleasant evening even there even though we were the only customers all night. At least the service was attentive!

Under advice of the owner (who may double as chef) we ate "traditional". Mine was delicious spicy chicken stew served with a hard boiled egg, my dining partner had lamb in a rich dark gravy with a salad to share. This was served on an enormous spongy, vinegary bread "enjera", (I would guess made of rice flour) and was all placed on an enormous sort of lazy susan. The owner showed us how to eat with our hands and even fed us herself. The dishes were rich and tasty and it was a fun experience to share a plate and eat with our hands.

The food was washed down with a complimentary tea, but we didn't partake in the hookah pipes in the lounge area. On a busy night it could be fun.

I don't know why this restaurant isn't more popular - the food is good, the service is fine and the concept refreshing. Perhaps in an area dominated by Tukish Ocakbasi restaurants there just isn't the market. I have never seen more than two customers in there at any one time. Go soon or it will become a small business statistic!

Cash only, cheap, but the Sudanese beer we were drinking racked the prices up.

We had an excellent meal at this Sudanese and Eritrean restaurant. Food was served from a buffet, starting with soups including a delicious lentil and lemon broth. Main course was a selection of hot stews and casseroles, with a good choice of salad dishes and home-made African breads. The vegetarian dish was delicately spiced, and one of the breads bore a striking resemblance to a proper Staffordshire oatcake!

The comfortable, homely setting includes a long communal table in the middle as well as individual tables at the side. In a corner sits Muna's mother, roasting coffee beans and making delicious coffee freshly several times a night. Muna herself ensures a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The fit-out is simple, but set off by items of decoration from Sudan.

Delicious sweets were served with coffee, which may have been authentically Sudanese but bore a striking resemblance to the baklava found throughout Green Lanes -- no bad thing. The meal was great value at under £20 including drinks.

Muna's restaurant is a valuable addition to Harringay, and is more than just a cafe for a quick bite. It joins La Vina tapas bar as one of the few places this side of the railway track for a relaxed sit-down meal where the food is the focus.
