We have visited Lock Fyne before and were then a little disappointed but being over a year ago we thought it worth a second try. I will start by saying the fish was really good. However the accompanying chips and vegetables were sub standard. The soggy chips were hard in the middle and when we said it seemed that they had been frozen we were told they in fact were. I find it astonishing that the chips were not even cut and cooked on site especially when they were £2.50 each small portion. Having returned the chips no alternative was provided in the 15 minutes we took to eat the main course and they were still on the bill.

We had to wait for 25 minutes to be served desert which just compounded a feeling that the staff do not care about the customer. It is a real shame as the quality of the fish was fantastic with things that are so simple to get right letting the overall evening down. We shall not be revisiting.

My family have eaten at Loch Fyne Barnet for many years now, and have never had any complaints- far from it. The food has always ben prepared to a very high standard and the staff always helpful, polite and on form.

We particularly like the family feel there, we are always made to feel very welcome and the staff are very attentive.

Only downside is that we cant eat there everyday !

I visited the Loch Fyne in Barnet. I ordered the seafood platter for two . What came up was not as described, items were missing. The explanation was that they had run out!! Why was I not told that when I ordered. I was told that they had in fact added extra prawns. Lord knows how many I would have got if I had not have had the 'extra' Prawns? They were so small it was a crime to have taken them away from their mother. I would suggest that they had been frozen and did not appear fresh.I wrote to the mangement afterwards and was promised an investigation. I got Nothing. It was only lip service. Stay away Expensive and very ordinaire. Experto Crede

We ate here last night, and it was a packed house. Which might explain the lack of oysters, and shortage of salmon on the menu, but of which we were looking forwards to.

However, the food was lovely and the service was great. The hostess did her best to make up for the menu shortcomings, and made us feel very welcome. The staff were efficient and quick, and the Bass we had was delicious, and promptly delivered.

I agree with the comments below. My parents live in Barnet and we used to go to Loch Fyne reguarly. The lady manager was indeed fantastic and clearly ran a tight ship whilst being friendly and helpful. The food was always delicious too. Things have gone downhill however, and we haven't been back for quite some time.

I went here about a year and a half ago, and have to say it has gone dramatically downhill. When we went the service was unbelievable ( I believe we were served by the manager last time, what a treasure), so looked after and someone who knew and was extremely passionate about the company. We went back this week, and it was the opposite of the spectrum. We asked for the lady who looked after us before, she had left. Instead for a quiet lunch we had someone who spent 90%of their time on the phone, and didnt feel the same warmth we had before. Shame as the food was good again, but we wanted to go back as last time we were so welcomed. Being from this trade, they always say you can recover from a bad meal with great service, but you cant recover from a great neak & bad service, where ever that lady is now, she is an asset!! Bring her back!!
