My wife and I had a lovely dinner here last night (20th May 2011). We both enjoyed the warm bread + onion platter drizzled with pomegranate / soya sauce. The salad plate was plenty and the main dished arrived promptly and were devoured just as quick. A mixed grill + boneless chicken. Very friendly and welcoming staff. It was not too busy and the layout is nice. Next time i will try the ribs!!
to top it off, we were offered tea + sweets at no cost. thanks for a lovely evening.

Went here on Saturday night (5th March) after reading the previous reviews. We were not disappointed, in fact the food was excellent. The complimentary bread (try it with the chilli) and caramalised onions were so addictive.
The lamp chops and kebabs were delicious, and everything was brilliant value for money. We sat near the charcoal grill and watched the spare ribs being made - something which we will definitely have the next time we'll go which will be pretty soon.
The service was v quick, and I guess the only downside if I had to be hypercritical is that the decor is quite simple.

This is by far the best turkish restaurant I have ever tried (and they are quite a few). The food is unbelievable and equally importantly the service is excellent. We have been there around 10 times the last couple of years and it has never let down. Portions are huge, and it doesn't help that the staff kept on treating us (free) with this impeccable onion salad with pomegranate, pita bread, a mixed salad, a portion of liver, a portion of fries and for the end 2 rice puddings and 4 turkish teas! (it was just 4 of us eating).
The place is a typical turkish mangal, i.e. if you're looking for a romantic place this is not it. But if you want some seriously good food, it is definitely worth a journey to dalston.
My boyfriend asked me to say the following and I cannot not say it: "If there can be true love with a restaurant, this is it." Well, quite true.

This is a regular place for a group of us - never dissapointed with the food and service, which is always friendly and one of the few restaurants where you can go and always be greeted like an old friend. The decor is nothing special, but the value for money makes this and easy element to look past.

I have used this restaurant frequently for four years and have never had a bad meal! The food is quite simply excellent 10/10 every time. The Pirzola or Lamb Chops are superb as are the mince lamb/chicken kebabs: Kofte, Adana and Beyti. Complimentary bread and grilled onions are served while meals are prepared.
At first glance, despite being very clean and tidy, the restaurant may appear to lack atmosphere but the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Having tried the majority of similar restaurants in the area I have found the service at Hasan to be above and beyond the high standards for the area.
I have recommended this restaurant too many friends and colleagues and they all love it and visit frequently. It is my opinion and that of twenty or so of my friends that Hasan is by far the best Turkish Meze & Mangal in Dalston.
I have always found Hasan to be excellent value for money. I strongly recommend this fantastic little gem to anyone on a budget. A meal for two costs roughly £40, including a bottle of wine.

Came with a turkish uni friend for Saturday dinner, enjoyed very much by ordering:
- shared grilled Sucuk izgara: garlic sausage, £ 4.00, 6/10 points, not long enough on the grill to our taste
- Pirzola: char coal grilled lamb chops, one of the most flavoursmome, tender and best grill dishes, £ 10.50, 9/10 points,
- Beyti kebab: char coal grilled spicy minced lamb skewer, good standard, £ 8.50, 7/10 points,
all mains served with rice and salad
Total bill £ 26 for two of us incl. 1 water, 1 tea and VAT. If you present your cinema ticket from the near by RIO cinema (recommeded for good non mainstream cinema), you will get £ 2/person discount. A really good authentic option according to turkish friend among many competitors in this area.
