I have dined at far better Japanese restaurants in London, than Sushi Hiroba.

This sushi conveyor belt restaurant is not worth spending your money, as the service and food is a compete disaster.

I have been wanting to dine at Sushi Hiroba in Holborn for a while, and decided to go for a light meal of sushi, on a rainy Sunday evening, and had high expectation.

But, where do I start...I ordered three kinds of individual sashimi of three pieces each, and I was shocked by the way it was presented on the plate. The sashimi pieces were chunky, and too much daikon (white radish). Not like the normal, decent sashimi dish I have tried in other fine restaurants.

I felt that the sashimi dish was poor quality, but on the brightside, the sushi rolls

were ok, but way too small portion of only two pieces.

With the waiting staff from a few different oriental countries, the service did not live up to expection you would expect from a highly popular sushi restaurant in central London. As I was finishing my light sushi meal, I could see the staff were packing up as it was a Sunday, and the bill was put down on my table without having requested. The most annoying part was, I wanted to have a Japanese green tea at the end of the meal, before paying and leaving, and requested one, but one the waitress member stated, no. I just could not believe it. It was one cup of green tea I wanted, as I had finished my drink during the meal. I understand they were packing up and was about to close soon, but they all seemed to not know the meaning of customer service. I did not request for another sushi dish, only green tea as I really needed a drink.

I agree with one of the reviewers on here about this place, Hirobayou. Other conveyor belt sushi places are much better. Stay away!

I passed Sushi Hiroba many times when I'm around the Holborn area in search of lunch. I do wonder why I never consider it. Deciding to change that, this was the chosen venue when I met up with a friend of mine for lunch.

We are both early lunchers and were the first ones seated while the staff were still prepping and getting the place ready. We didn't mind at all and was happy to indulge in the cool air conditioning as it was a rare sunny day. We both enjoyed our food very much, tasty and decent.

I went to this restaurant after shopping in London and the sushi was really nice in my opinion. I can see some reviews here saying how bad the quality of sushi is and how expensive it is so it was rather worrying for me if I should eat dinner in Sushi Hiroba or not. However, I really enjoyed the dinner at Sushi Hiroba and I thought the price was not that bad. I would like to go back again.

The food at Hiroba is usually relatively good, like the sushi and the sashimi are all pretty fresh and the place is popular with LSE students and working adults alike. But the service there is disappointing. The manager did not allow us to sit on the table for 4 even though we had already booked it as I arrived alone first and I was on time. This is supposedly the case for many Chinese restaurants in where there are alot of people and they only give you tables when the party is fully assembled, but for the prices that you pay at Hiroba, it is simply not worth it. The manager was rude and unfriendly by suggesting that we change tables half way during the meal as our other 2 friends hadn't come after the first half hour that we were there and after we had already started eating quite alot. I told the manager that they were coming and he seemed unhappy about it.

When they eventually came and we sat and ate the meal, there wasn't much service to speak of because most of the food was by the conveyor belt and we were made to pay the usual 10% later, which amounted to about 10 pounds. The whole meal cost 35 for me. So I complained to the manager that the way they spoke to us about the table was unacceptable and he had a very bad attitude, insisted this was restaurant policy and even argued with me about it. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone who is looking for friendly service or a place where you'd expect to get your table when you arrive on time. Hiroba is a decidedly expensive restaurant and the attitude of the staff was and is pretty unacceptable. So please, if you do want respect, go somewhere else for sushi.

I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT.

Since this sushi restaurant is owned by Koreans, I figured I may as well order a Korean dish from the 'hot classic' menu. So I ordered bulgogi (marinated beef stir fry with vegetables and rice). The beef stir fry was okay, but the rice was obviously LEFT OVER RICE -- dry looking, clot together, although piping hot. I grow up eating rice all my life so I know this is reheated leftover rice mixed with fresh-made rice. I asked the manager if he could replace the rice. He first it was 'sticky rice', but hey sticky rice happens to be my favorite and I know it's not sticky rice. Then he said, even if he replaces the rice, it will still come from the same big pot of rice. At my insistance, he replaced a new dish for me. This time, the rice tastes fresh, definitely not the same as the rice before. However, some of the beef stir-fry is COLD. Obviously reheated. But why not reheat it evenly? This time I didn't bother returning the rice because I didn't want to be seen as a difficult customer.

If I were at China town paying cheap price for a meal, I don't mind leftover rice and reheated food. But not at a seemingly fancy restaurant that charges this price.

If as the manager said, their fresh rice all looked that way -- dry, clot, left-over -- then their standard for rice cooking needs significant improvement.

WILL NOT GO BACK.

Pretty bad, chose a few items from the "Hot Classics" dim sum, and Octopus balls. When they arrive dtbey were stone cold, not exactly hot classics. When I asked I was told that that wasn't a problema nd the waiter merrily took them away and put them both in the microwave for 30 seconds which is just inside the conveyor belt.

So.....that is really what you shoudl expect.

Pretty poor and seemed quiete expensive but they mucked up our bill so we didn't pay for much. Hurray!
