Zilli Fish

We visted zilli fish for new years eve, having read the reviews I was in two minds...
we decided to make our own call.
Aldo Zilli was in the restuarant (not the kitchen) it was nice to see him.
Food prices - high starters from £15, mains from £25 + cover charge and 12.5 % service(we had checked upfront it was a standard menu night)
The food : starters had crab it had a lot of shell in the meat.
The mushroom (single) at £14 was over salty yet nice! but for 1 solitary mushroom wildy overpriced, I felt.
Mains a huge disappointment for the price tuna chunks with wasabi was just that no veg/salad. Sea bass fillets were good if somewhat boney and plentiful served with spicy spinach.
Service lacking (asked 4 waiters for a glass of water and waited over 15mins for it)
staff are very friendly so these over sights are forgiveable.
I will not return since I feel other London restaurants deliver better food, service and ambience for the same price.
Our bill £125, for two with one bottle of house white and one bottle of water.

Although we had an accepted reservation we had to wait 45 min for a table.
The ordered wine from the wine list was sold out, but had to be found on the bill.
Twice we received wrong meals instead of the ordered courses.

We had a pre theatre meal on a Tuesday evening. There wasn't a lot of atmosphere as it was early but we were warmly welcomed and had excellent, friendly service. We had crab and advocado salad followed by sea bass with pumpkin - both courses were delicious and well presented.I was impressed by the fact that the waiter advised me to order no more veg as my husband had two side orders which he said would be more than enough - how right he was ! They made a specific note of our time frame and we were ready to leave in perfect time for the walk round the corner to The Piccadilly. £110 for 2 courses, couple of glasses of wine and aperitifs is not cheap - but food and service were good enough to make it likely we'll go again.

I went here about three months ago with my girlfriend. The food was outstanding. I had mussels followed by monkfish, and I would rate the food as highly as any seafood available in London. Combined with an interesting wine list and service we had a really top experience.

I am one of these people who read the reviews but don't usually leave any. Not being from London we were worried where to go as we wanted somewhere really nice but not overrated. Zilli Fish had mixed reviews and I was a bit concerned just before we went because of some of the reviews. We went to Zilli Fish for my friend's birthday on Friday 4th August 2006 and have to say everything about it was amazing. The food was gorgeous. We both had the Calamari to start and it was out of this world, if we could have had it again for main course we would have! For main course my friend had a seafood pasta dish from the specials list and I had the chicken breast wrapped in Pancetta both dishes were great. The service was fantastic with all members of staff showing interest to all tables making it a friendly and welcoming place to be. With two courses each, two bottles of wine and two drinks to start, the bill came to £110, which is really good for the quality and location. I am definately going to visit Zilli Fish the next time I am in London and strongly recommend to all.

9 of us dined at the restaurant on a Saturday night. We were warmly welcomed by Mr Zilli himself. All of us enjoyed most of our food. My starter was prawns in garlic chilli, prawns were really fresh and succulent. The main which was grilled fish was a bit dry, with no sauce, only lemon and a v. light herb crust. Desserts were delicious, particulary the chocolate brownie cake. The atmosphere was great and the wine was lovely too. Service was v. good. Quite expensive though but would definately go back.

Went to Zilli on Tuesday with my tasteoflondon.co.uk, meal deal allowing us a 3 course meal fo £20. When we arrived I was not hugely impressed with the interior, almost like a slightly upmarket cafe. The service was great though and the maitre'd was really friendly and keen for us to enjoy our meal and time at the restaurant. It came to £70 for two of us including a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. The food was nice but worth only £70 definitely not worthy of the price tag of the al la carte menu. It was a nice eatery but I wouldn't recommend it and probably wouldn't return, unless I got another meal deal...£15 for a 3 course meal?!

My wife and I went to Zilli Fish on Saturday Lunch. When we arrived we were told the kitchen had just held a masterclass so there would be a small delay. We were rewarded with a special starter delivered by the owner Mr Zilli with fulsome apologies for the delay. The meal and service was very good and enjoyable. The Tuna Carpaccio and the Fish cakes were very good. They had a lovely Rose wine as well. Cost for 3 courses woith wine and gratuity 120 not bad these days

We went for the second time on Sat 7th Jan and again though the food and service were excellent. This time it was my turn (R) to try the Lobster in spaghetti as S had this on our first visit, again it was fantastic and worth the price.
The staff were attentive and polite and at no time did we feel rushed or unwelcome, despite turning up without reservations on a Saturday night at 2000hr (with a table for two found quickly.
Yes it is a little expensive but we have found it on two occasions to be worth the money and will be back again soon.
