It is hard to find anything overly positive to say about this restaurant. The night didn't start well when the bar ran out of Pimms on a (rare) 30 degree June evening. That can be forgiven but the really poor quality of the food cannot. For a place that calls itself a bar and grill, surely their steak should at least be edible? Call me crazy, but I do not think a medium rare steak should be cold in the middle. The vegetables, especially the mash, were uninspiring and the meals took forever to arrive despite the restaurant being relatively quiet. Don't bother. It's overpriced and disappointing.

Took a while to get our table even though we were told what time to get there for. Sat at the bar and had a couple of cocktails which were very nice (though a little too much ice). I think they were a little short staffed for a Saturday. I had the scallop starter which very nice and the fillet of steak to follow. My partner had the calamari and pork chop both of which were good. My only quibble is that my steak was warm (not hot) as it had most likely been sat out on the counter as we had witnessed other dishes had when we were at the bar. Overall nice food, they just need to polish up the service.

A friend and I went to the Polygon 2 weeks ago to have a (£15 2 course deal)meal and catch up. We had been told that it was a reasonable place that served a decent steak.

We weren't disappointed! We were early for our table, but the staff were gracious and friendly and found us another table. They were very helpful with the wine list and had a good knowledge of the food they served, (not something you tend to come across a lot).

I had the chicken and pineapple salad as a starter (yummy) and the T-bone steak for a main, which I struggled to finish. The steak was incredibly tender but the mash was a bit disappointing.

All in all, it was a lovely evening, the music was subtle and of good taste and then we ended up sitting at the bar for a an hour after the dinner finishing our 2nd bottle of wine!

(P.S. there is an additional charge for some of the meals you order, so your bill might be over £15)

A group of us went to Polygon yesterday. It seems to be aiming to be a trendy looking restaurant for trendy looking locals, with tasty food but nothing special - and it is exactly that. Pre-dinner cocktails were outrageously alcoholic... so well worth having. Most of our table had the scallops for starters, which was a fairly average dish dominated by a monstrous dollop of mushy peas, which themselves tasted mainly of garlic and onions, and a couple of rashers of crispy bacon. The Happy Eater presentation and the lack of balance (both quantity and flavour) further let the side down. Other starters consumed on the table included chicken livers, which looked good, and gnocchi, which looked like an enormous portion. The main courses were also big. I had a huge ribeye steak, which erred on the raw side of rare and, as mentioned in previous reviews, was barely warm. However, it was a great piece of cow, which made up for any other shortcomings. After all that, there was no way we could fit in dessert. With wine, the bill came to 35 squids per head, which I guess is about right for what it is. Food could be warmer, portions could be smaller, room could smell less garlicky. Not bad. 6/10

After reading about the changes at Polygon I returned to give it a third chance, and I am very glad I did. All problems experienced previously seem to have been sorted leaving a nice restaurant in the heart of Clapham actually serving good food and service with a smile. Keep it up lads.

I met a friend for an early supper last Friday evening. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere (good lighting and decor) and our food was very good. My squid starter was excellent, and so was the duck and the grilled prawns. The 2 waiters who looked after us were extremely pleasant, and they provided a swift and friendly service. My only disappointment was that there was only one red wine available by the glass that was 12% alcohol, and that was priced at £6 a glass. I'm sure it was a lovely wine but it was more than I wanted to pay. The other reds available by the glass were cheaper, but they were all 14% which is too strong for me. Anyhow, our very nice waiter managed to get us a glass of house wine from the bar so all was fine in the end, but its a shame there wasn't more choice on the menu. Other than that we had a very pleasant evening and I will definitely return.
