Club Gascon! merci!
what an evening!
The food is fantastic, I loved this "tasting menu" with a wine degustation!
Of course it is a small dining room, but the atmosphere is just great.
If you like a flashy and posh restaurant, that's not for you.
If you prefere a nice smart and casual restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and a nice french food...run to the Club!

This was a huge disappointment. We are used to eating at Michelin-starred restaurants aswell as more ordinary establishments, this is an expensive restaurant but for an enjoyable experience we would not have minded one bit. The service was appauling: slow, inattentive and non-soignee. When we left the restaurant we went to the bathroom and found our coats slung on the sofa by the door, no one bothered to come and say goodbye or thankyou.
As for the food: very, very rich. By plate 2 of the 3 you are advised to take I had had enough and I was unconvinced by some of the flavour combinations. My steak dish simply did not work. The restaurant is small and without any character whatsoever, this did not serve as a plain backdrop upon which the food was the contrast, taking centre stage, it just looked like they hadn't bothered and we were stuck in some half-finished room in the corner of the market. There was no air of luxury or refinement, however simple.
Go once if you must, I won't be there.

The food was fantastic, however, the service was not. Wine took over ten minutes to be delivered to our table and then we had to attract the waiters' attention to have our wine and water glasses refilled.

Highly recomended for quality French food with a smart but relaxing atmosphere. The venue is beautiful and very calming - lots of dark wood, marble, grecian blue and a beautiful bar. They were a noticeably diverse bunch of diners on Saturday (all colours, ages, appearance - dress up or dress down - it didn't matter one bit) and the atmosphere was quietly buzzing. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the food with the notable exception of a halibut dish with lardons which just didn't work at all. Foie gras is the speciality and there are numerous foie gras dishes to choose from. There's also a tasting menu which seemed very popular. Service could have been better - we were kept waiting a while for a table and they didn't bring the wine we'd ordered for the foie gras course - but it was only slightly less than very good.

Yes, it is expensive (in regards to previous reviews) but it is simply a work of art. It is the finest lunch I have ever eaten and the whole experience is more memorable than 3 average lunches/dinners put together...so from that perspective probably worth every penny.
Service is good, wines delicious if doing the tasting menu and food is created by a genius.
I am jealous for those that are about to go.

We went to Club Gascon in December 2006, having there several times before. On those previous visits, we had always gone for the tasting menue with wines, which we have always thoroughly enjoyed.
When we arrived at our table and studied the menues, we discovered to our horror, that the price of the tasting menue (now rebranded “Menu Noel” for the season – but being essentially the same as before) had nearly doubled to £70 without wine and and £110 with wine. We decided to leave at that point, and when I explained the reason to the Maitre, he sneered at me, as if to say “tough, if you cannot afford it”. Surely, good food has its price, but almost doubling the prices is tacking the mickey. At those prices, Club Gascon, whilst no doubt still serving incredibly good food, is now in the league of overpriced venues, and we shall not come back again.

I have to totally disagree with the view below of their tasting menu. I thought it one of the most memorable meals I've had in London - on a par with and perhaps even better than Locanda Locatelli (when it opened), Hakkasan & Zafferano. The service is excellent - very discreet and very attentive without being in your face. We had the tasing menu but without the wines. Instead, we had a bottle of the red (Une & Mille Nuits - superb) that matched the duck course and that went down a treat.
I found the atmosphere serious and intimate and it was just perfect. You can tell people come here for the food and not to be seen.
My favourite dishes were the monkfish (which, in my opinion, went very well with the risotto and was certainly my husband's favourite) and the duck, which was cooked to perfection.
A wonderful meal, great service and I can't wait to return. I also found it reasonably priced too compared to its peers.

I went to Club Gascon in October for a birthday treat. There were four of us and we had the tasting menu, which includes 4/5 different dishes (all small portions) along with 4/5 different wines to compliment each dish and all for ONLY £60 each. Whilst the portions are small what we had was delcioius and surprisgly very filling. The waiting staff were attentive and knowledgable about the wines/food we were having. It's a lovely restaurant with and is beautifully decorated. Ideal for something special and to impressive that special someone. I would definately recommend this Club Gascon and look forward to my next visit.

Ate here on Tues 17th October. Thought the service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive however we were seated beside the back wall where the tables are very close together. We both had the tasting menu with wines at £60 each. The wines were generous glasses, although I was a bit disappointed in the variety. The first three whites tasted very similar & there was only one red.
I really wanted to like the food - but I didn;t. The foie gras with eel was fine, but just that, fine. I've had this combination before and it was divine but at Club Gascon the foie was a bit too hard and the eel not flavoursome enough. The monkfish with walnut and chicory risotto was a disaster. The fish was completely overpowered by the bitterness of the chicory. It just didn't work.
Duck done three ways was one tiny confit of back leg and two completely raw bits of fillet. My husband battled through but I just couldn't eat it. Baked figs with honey were incredibly bitter, though the rosemary ice cream was delicious. We did have a lovely night & it is nice sometimes to eat challenging things you wouldn't normally, but I won't be rushing back

had been meaning to try this restaurant for some time and i wasnt disapointed , technically really well executed dishes and not nearly as heavy as i thought it would be from the reviews i had read . very south western french , sadly no burgundies on the wine list but a superb choice of bordeaux . service was efficent and friendly , well deserving of a michelin star .
