Ate here on Tues 17th October. Thought the service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive however we were seated beside the back wall where the tables are very close together. We both had the tasting menu with wines at £60 each. The wines were generous glasses, although I was a bit disappointed in the variety. The first three whites tasted very similar & there was only one red.

I really wanted to like the food - but I didn;t. The foie gras with eel was fine, but just that, fine. I've had this combination before and it was divine but at Club Gascon the foie was a bit too hard and the eel not flavoursome enough. The monkfish with walnut and chicory risotto was a disaster. The fish was completely overpowered by the bitterness of the chicory. It just didn't work.

Duck done three ways was one tiny confit of back leg and two completely raw bits of fillet. My husband battled through but I just couldn't eat it. Baked figs with honey were incredibly bitter, though the rosemary ice cream was delicious. We did have a lovely night & it is nice sometimes to eat challenging things you wouldn't normally, but I won't be rushing back

had been meaning to try this restaurant for some time and i wasnt disapointed , technically really well executed dishes and not nearly as heavy as i thought it would be from the reviews i had read . very south western french , sadly no burgundies on the wine list but a superb choice of bordeaux . service was efficent and friendly , well deserving of a michelin star .

possibly the best meal I have had in london. we opted to choose our own instead of taking the tasting menu, 3 plates each is enough if you want to try and fit in dessert too. quality of ingredients phenomenal, mixture of tastes and textures wonderfully creative and presentation out of this world. on top of this service was the perfect combination of attentive but relaxed, and the atmosphere calm and contented.

We had dinner at Club Gascon last night, and the only word to describe our experience is "sensational". We had the 5-course Tasting Menu, with the recommended wines, which, at £60 per head, has to represent the best value for money possible, given the estraordinary quality of the food, wines and service. The September 2006 Tasting Menu is:

Foamed veloute of shrimp dumplings & mushrooms with shrimp and radish toast

Spiced confit of duck foie gras, with pickled mirabelles

Squid & lardons 'a la plancha', served in squid ink

Filet of pork in a beetroot coulis with caramelised apples & carrot foam

Trio of plums (candied, stewed, iced compoted) on polenta strip

If you really like good food and wines, we can thoroughly recommend every aspect of the Club Gascon experience!!

Overall a very disappointing experience. The service was like none I have ever seen in a Michelin star restaurant. We asked for bread several times, were left with an empty glass for 40 minutes and when trying to order a bottle of wine, it was pointed out we only had the table until 9.30pm, indicating we wouldn't have time to drink it. Overall the food was ok, some very different ideas, some worked, some didn't. I won't be back!

The club Gascon is a great place! It looks like this for me because I am French and specifically from the South West. I am used to taste excellent foie gras, carefully selected at local farmers' and lovingly cooked by my grand-mother and mother...The standards are the same in this place but with a twist: you can have all of goodness of the terroir with a mixture of exotic tastes such as fois gras and sake for instense...It is a real surprise and it is delicious! The portions are small so you can choose various tastes!Like you would with tapas. I would recommand this place to any French food lovers! And lovers!

After 5th or 6th visit I still enjoy this restaurant .When I read some of the attached reviews regarding size of courses etc,I feel the message being given by the waiters is not getting through. If you want a comparison, this is 'French Tapas'.So, either share of go for your own individual courses. Most I could manage was 4 plus dessert!

Another overpriced, overhyped disappointment. If you've tasted real French food, you won't be impressed. Chewy baby lobster, incredibly oversalty turbot, tasteless foie gras mousse. And some imitation New World wines (a la Tesco £2.99) on the recommended accompanying list that are inexcusable when you have such good French classics to hand.

There is no better food in London at this price and if foie gras is your thing you will probably struggle to find better anywhere in the world. The set menu is an ideal choice if you are unsure as to how many small portions one needs to make up a meal. Put yourself in the hands of the kitchen and you will not be disappointed -five perfectly executed dishes with the wines chosen to compliment each course. Foie Gras Oceanique was a particular highight of a recent visit. We also loved the room - small and characterful enough not to feel at all corporate and with breathtakingly beautiful flowers.

I can't believe the previous reviews moaning about the portions and price!

If you know anything about cuisine you will know that food this rich is to be enjoyed in small quantities.

The taster menu left me absolutely filled to the brim, the accompanying drinks well selected.

I can safely say you will not find more scrumptious food if you looked for years.
