I went to the Aurora for the first time last week for a work dinner. It was fantastic! It's quite an admission from me too - well known to all my friends as a particularly hard customer to please :-)
We had the degustation menu with the accompanying wines - it was beautiful.
Couldn't fault the food, the fantastic service, or ambience; it was pricey, but definitely worth every penny.
My only concern is that now I've been so spoiled I don't see how other restaurants will be able to live up to the Aurora so I'm destined for disappointment :-( - I just can't wait to go back again!!

The Aurora Restaurant, well what can I say? Absolutely fantastic. Having had a reservation for 19.30 on the evening of the 8th December one member of the party had still not turned up. What could be a problem for some restaurants was not a problem for the Aurora and we finally sat down at 20.15. Excellent service, excellent food and oh boy worth the money, especially when someone else is paying....

This is the best meal I have ever had. The service was excellent, and the degustation was a meal that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Truly brilliant.

When is a smoked salmon and squid salad not a smoked salmon and squid salad? When it is a poached salmon salad with no squid.
When it finally arrived for 3 of my party, it was clearly not what we had ordered - the waiter however was adamant that it was correct. He confirmed that the poached salmon was in fact smoked because it was 'brown around the edges'.
However, he declined our offer of £100 if he could actually identify any squid on the plate. Having sworn blind for 10 minutes that we had the correct starters, he finally conceded that the squid may have not been on the plate and went of to get some which arrived separatley and was added to our plates at the table. He did not concede the salmon point however.
I understand that mistakes happen, but what I object to is having to argue the point with a waiter during a business lunch when it was so very clear that something was wrong. To their credit, we were not charged for the starters, but overall the service was terribly slow, we were constantly interrupted for bread, water, more bread etc etc.
For the quality and price, this was the service I am more used to from Zuccato.

I am a french hotelkeeper, I think its a very very good restaurant with a very good value for money in london. With my friends, today for the lunch, we took the degustation menu with a diferent glass of wine with each meal. The food is lovely and the service very nice. It`s a very good experience to renew. Thanks a lot for this very nice moment in your restaurant.

After reading mixed reviews, expectations were not set to impossible levels - but they were clearly exceeded in every department.
From the top: the setting is excellent, with great deco & plenty of space between tables to allow private conversation. Service was discrete, with waiting staff appearing and disappearing as needed.
The menu was the first I have seen - ever - where I would eat anything off it.
All three courses were very well put together: they had the depth of flavour and character expected of a quality establishment. Amuse bouches were apposite and welcome additions, complimenting the meal to ensure a full gastonomic experience with the desire to return and try more from the menu.
The wine suggested by the sommelier was excellent (which it should have been at the price), as was the port that followed.
Both my guests were more than happy with the experience: I picked up the bill, though, so I'll just say it was value for money. But that's a lot of value...
