Masterchef The Professionals winner Ash Mair will open a restaurant with Spanish pintxo chain Bilbao Berria this spring. Situated on Lower Regent Street, the restaurant will be split over two floors into a casual pintxo and open grill area and a more formal dining area offering modern Basque and Spanish dishes.

Hutong at The Shard

In June, the Aqua Restaurant Group will open a Northern Chinese restaurant on level 33 of The Shard. The restaurant will offer panoramic views of the London skyline and a menu inspired by the culinary styles of Peking, Shandong and Sichuan provinces. Signature dishes will include crispy soft shell crab with Sichuan dried peppers, 'Kung Po' wok fried prawns, and spiced bamboo clams steeped in wine.

Le Coq

Opening in Highbury this summer, Le Coq is the brainchild of sisters Ana and Sanja Morris. (Sanja founded Salt Yard Group and Ana was a chef at Salt Yard, Bocca di Lupo and Rochelle Canteen). Le Coq will be a neighbourhood rotisserie with a weekly changing two or three-course set menu and a concise wine list. There will be free-range rotisserie chickens, Sorbitium ice-creams and Sunday roasts on offer, as well a takeaway option.

Soho Diner

Following the success of the Electric Diner in Notting Hill, Soho House will open Soho Diner on Old Compton Street in July. Taking over the BKB site, it will be modelled on the classic American diner with lots of dark wood, tiled floors and a central bar. West End foodies can look forward to cheeseburgers, honey-fried chicken, apple pie, and cocktails on tap.

Shake Shack

American burger chain Shake Shack will open their first London restaurant on July 5th. Their all-natural burgers and shakes already have a cult following in the US and the Covent Garden site should prove a hit with London's burger afficionados. The restaurant will be situated in the historic Market Building with alfresco seating flanking the columns on South Row.

Boulestin

Joel Kissin (ex-Conran Restaurants) will launch French restaurant Boulestin on the former L'Oranger site in late summer. It will be inspired by Marcel Boulestin's iconic restaurant that opened in Covent Garden in 1927. Boulestin will be split into a 60-seater bistro serving classic French cuisine and a less formal cafe at the front.

Former Zuma chef Ross Shonhan and the team behind Bone Daddies will open Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden in July. Inspired by Japanese izakayas, the subterranean restaurant will specialise in hirata buns which are steamed and filled with things like slow-roasted Korean lamb shoulder and robata-grilled seabass. The menu will also include sashimi, oysters, maki rolls, bar snacks and Japanese-influenced desserts.

This September, brothers Ben and Will Thompson will open an all-day Italian restaurant on Upper Street in Islington. The menu will include authentic Roman pizza al taglio (by the slice), meat and cheese boards, savoury pies, lasagne and cannelloni. Locals can also look forward to an aperitivo hour, a roof terrace and an on-site bakery selling Italian baked goods.

This Autumn, chef Francesco Mazzei will open L'Anima Cafe next to his award-winning Italian restaurant in the City. The new venue will offer a more relaxed dining room, bar and takeaway counter. The daily-changing menu will feature Southern Italian pasta dishes, Josper-grilled meat, pizzas, salads and Prosecco on tap.

Chotto Matte

Kurt Zdesar, the restaurateur who founded Ping Pong, will open a restaurant in Soho this September. The former Giraffe site will be split into a 180-cover dining area, lounge, sushi bar and robata grill. It will specialise in Nikkei cuisine - a mixture of Japanese and Peruvian. The menu has been developed by Hiroki Takemura (formerly of Nobu and Zuma) and will feature a tasting menu of seven courses for just £40.
