Diners looking for a quick bite can perch at the shellfish table and tuck into oysters, cockles and langoustines served traditionally on newspaper.

Situated on Lower Regent Street, the restaurant will be split over two floors into a casual pintxo and open grill area and a more formal dining area offering modern Basque and Spanish dishes.

Opening on level 35 of The Shard on May 6th, the Shangri-La Hotel's restaurant TING will be open all day, serving 'European food with a hint of Asian flavour'. Using produce from nearby food markets, the chefs will serve dishes like Hainanese chicken rice, char kuey teow, laksa and nasi goreng. TING will also serve afternoon tea (traditional English or Asian-inspired) and an exclusive selection of Chinese teas.

After 12 years away, chef and restaurateur John Burton-Race will return to London to open The New Angel in Notting Hill in May. The 54-cover restaurant on Chepstow Place will offer a seasonal contemporary European menu and a varied wine list. The head chef will be Stephen Humphries, formerly of Sanctum On The Green and Le Gavroche.

The menu will include seared scallops with cured lemon beurre blanc, Moroccan oysters, and 'Josperised onions' filled with freekeh, herbs, nuts and pomegranate. The restaurant itself will feature a 19-seater kitchen bar where diners can watch the chefs at work.
