Adam Byatt (Trinity) and Karl Goward (ex-St John Bread & Wine) will open a neighbourhood bistro in Clapham Old Town on February 10th. The British menu will include dishes like allotment minestrone, steak and chips, and guinea fowl kiev. The restaurant will serve afternoon tea, bar snacks and English drinks like Orchard Pig cider and Sipsmith spirits.

11 Sicilian Avenue, Holborn, WC1A 2QH
Chef/proprietor Andrew Dargue from Vanilla Black will open a second vegetarian restaurant on Sicilian Avenue in Holborn on February 9th. Orchard will champion British ingredients and offer meat-free dishes at breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as to take away. A deli area will offer seasonal produce, fresh eggs, butter and freshly baked bread.

On February 23rd, a new Carluccio's restaurant will open on the former site of Colony in Marylebone. The restaurant will include the chain's new bar format - an aperitivo bar - which will serve Venetian-inspired snacks, Proscecco, cocktails and Peroni on draught.

Russian restaurant Mari Vanna will open in Knightsbridge on March 1st. The menu will include traditional borsch, pelmeni (veal dumplings), stuffed cabbage leaves, and harcho (a rich Georgian lamb soup with rice).

Bermondsey Square Hotel, Tower Bridge Road, SE1 3UN
Masterchef's Gregg Wallace will open a 90-seater restaurant at the Bermondsey Square Hotel on February 27th. Replacing Alfie's, the restaurant will serve Gregg's take on his childhood favourites - boiled beef and carrots, lobster thermidor, Angel Delight and spam fritters. Gregg already owns Wallace & Co in Putney.

Italian chef Bruno Barbieri will open a new restaurant on the former Cafe Luc site in Marylebone on March 5th. It will be called Cotidie, which is Latin for 'every day'.

Opening in South Kensington on March 14th, Umami will offer a menu of sharing plates with influences from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Korea. Served in two sizes, to taste or to share, dishes will include beef rendang, red snapper with sweet tamarind and chilli, and tamarind duck with mange tout.

A new tapas restaurant with a Basque focus will open in Marylebone in March. Head chef Tomasz Baranski (ex-Barrafina) will be serving up dishes like croquetas, stuffed squid in ink, and pil-pil cod.

Vivek Singh, owner of the Cinnamon Club, will open a new restaurant and bar in Soho on March 15th. Situtated on the former site of Red Bar on Kingly Street, Cinnamon Soho will have a similar feel to Vivek's Cinnamon Kitchen. Alongside the a la carte, the restaurant will offer an all-day breakfast menu, pre and post theatre options, a set lunch of two courses for 15 pounds or three for 18, and a late night supper menu of tasting plates.

In early 2012, Sushisamba will open at the top of the Heron Tower on Bishopsgate. The group already have restaurants in New York, Miami and Las Vegas. The restaurant will serve a unique combination of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine.

Restaurateur Claudio Pulze will launch a new Italian restaurant at the Vinopolis wine tasting venue near Borough Market in early 2012. Del Mercato, which will be situated in the Stoney Street railway arches, will be divided into a bar, an osteria serving pizza and light lunches, and a restaurant serving traditional Italian dishes in the evening.

Named after the famous 18th Century caricaturist (James Gillray, Gillray's Steakhouse & Bar will offer a British menu with a focus on steak and seafood. Diners can look forward to Foreman's smoked salmon, venison sausage rolls (in the bar), and a signature 'Bull' Head' steak - a 1000g-butterfly cut, double rib steak served with the bone in.
