Restaurants Opening Soon in London

Opening on Cannon Street on June 19th, Pelt Trader will offer over 30 craft beers on tap, a cocktail station, outdoor seating, and a lunch and dinner menu.

Masterchef The Professionals winner Ash Mair will open a restaurant with Spanish pintxo chain Bilbao Berria this spring. Situated on Lower Regent Street, the restaurant will be split over two floors into a casual pintxo and open grill area and a more formal dining area offering modern Basque and Spanish dishes.

Following the success of their Kensington sushi bar, the Yashin team will open a new restaurant on Old Brompton Road this spring.

In June, the Aqua Restaurant Group will open a Northern Chinese restaurant on level 33 of The Shard. The restaurant will offer panoramic views of the London skyline and a menu inspired by the culinary styles of Peking, Shandong and Sichuan provinces. Signature dishes will include crispy soft shell crab with Sichuan dried peppers, 'Kung Po' wok fried prawns, and spiced bamboo clams steeped in wine.

US burger chain Five Guys will open their first UK site in Covent Garden this summer.

Tom Aikens will open a third restaurant in London this June. Situated in Canary Wharf, it will be less formal than his Chelsea restaurant and will offer a British brasserie style menu.

Opening in Highbury this summer, Le Coq is the brainchild of sisters Ana and Sanja Morris. (Sanja founded Salt Yard Group and Ana was a chef at Salt Yard, Bocca di Lupo and Rochelle Canteen). Le Coq will be a neighbourhood rotisserie with a weekly changing two or three-course set menu and a concise wine list. There will be free-range rotisserie chickens, Sorbitium ice-creams and Sunday roasts on offer, as well a takeaway option.

Following the success of their Soho and Brixton restaurants, Honest Burgers will open a new burger bar in Camden's Stable Market this summer.

Following the success of the Electric Diner in Notting Hill, Soho House will open Soho Diner on Old Compton Street in July. Taking over the BKB site, it will be modelled on the classic American diner with lots of dark wood, tiled floors and a central bar. West End foodies can look forward to cheeseburgers, honey-fried chicken, apple pie, and cocktails on tap.

American burger chain Shake Shack will open their first London restaurant on July 5th. Their all-natural burgers and shakes already have a cult following in the US and the Covent Garden site should prove a hit with London's burger afficionados. The restaurant will be situated in the historic Market Building with alfresco seating flanking the columns on South Row.

Joel Kissin (ex-Conran Restaurants) will launch French restaurant Boulestin on the former L'Oranger site in late summer. It will be inspired by Marcel Boulestin's iconic restaurant that opened in Covent Garden in 1927. Boulestin will be split into a 60-seater bistro serving classic French cuisine and a less formal cafe at the front.

Chef Luis Baena will open Notting Hill Kitchen, a modern Spanish and Portuguese restaurant, on the former site of Notting Hill Brasserie this summer.

Street food heroes, the Pizza Pilgrims, will open their first permanent pizza parlour in Soho this summer.

Former Zuma chef Ross Shonhan and the team behind Bone Daddies will open Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden in July. Inspired by Japanese izakayas, the subterranean restaurant will specialise in hirata buns which are steamed and filled with things like slow-roasted Korean lamb shoulder and robata-grilled seabass. The menu will also include sashimi, oysters, maki rolls, bar snacks and Japanese-influenced desserts.

Opening on Exmouth Market this summer, Paesan will serve 'cucina povera' - simple, rustic Italian food. Locals can expect homemade charcuterie, fresh pasta, game, pulses, vintage cocktails and wine.

The Draft House team will open their first City pub in a former post office opposite the entrance to the Tower of London this July. Expect twenty-two craft keg and cask beers, barrel-aged cocktails, 'Monster Dogs', their signature Yolk, Smoke and Poke burgers, and foot-long scratchings.

Franco Manca will open a new pizzeria on the former Hop & Spice site in Balham this summer.

Restaurateur Richard Caring will open a new casual eatery, Grillshack, on Soho's Beak Street this summer.

Following the success of the King's Road original, the Big Easy team are opening a Covent Garden restaurant and bar this summer. Diners can look forward to hearty portions of barbecue ribs, burgers and lobsters.

In September, Gordon Ramsay will open Union Street Cafe near Borough Market with the backing of football star David Beckham. The project will take up two floors of the Harling House building and will offer 'quality Mediterranean-influenced food with a daily changing menu'.

This September, the ETM Group will launch a modern European restaurant and cocktail bar in Canary Wharf. One Canada Square will be open for breakfast from 7am, business lunches, post-work cocktails and relaxed dinners as well as leisurely Saturday brunches served right up until 5pm.

Following the success of their Wimbledon restaurant, the Danish restaurant chain Sticks 'n' Sushi will open a new site in Covent Garden this autumn.

This September, brothers Ben and Will Thompson will open an all-day Italian restaurant on Upper Street in Islington. The menu will include authentic Roman pizza al taglio (by the slice), meat and cheese boards, savoury pies, lasagne and cannelloni. Locals can also look forward to an aperitivo hour, a roof terrace and an on-site bakery selling Italian baked goods.

Feather & Hide is a rotisserie and spit restaurant opening on Drury Lane this year.

Theo Randall and Rebecca Mascarenhas will launch a modern Italian trattoria on the former site of Cantinetta in Putney this September. Theo remains chef-patron of Theo Randall at the InterContinental Hotel in Mayfair.

Drake & Morgan (The Anthologist, The Parlour) will open The Haberdashery in Holborn in 2013. The site will occupy over 10,000 square feet and will feature a cheese and wine room, a florist, deli, kitchen and bar. It will be spread over three floors, including a mezzanine level.

"Sam and Eddie Hart confirmed that they have secured a site at 43 Drury Lane in London's Covent Garden for a second Barrafina tapas bar. The new Barrafina, planned to open in 2013, will closely mirror the original Frith Street restaurant which opened in January 2007."

New York's Andre Balazs (The Standard, The Mercer) will open a boutique hotel in Marylebone in 2013. Situated on the site of a disused fire station, the hotel will be home to The Standard Grill - an American bistro style restaurant.

In 2013, Japanese restaurant OKKU will open on the former site of Just St James in Mayfair. It will follow in the footsteps of its popular parent restaurant in Dubai.

This Autumn, chef Francesco Mazzei will open L'Anima Cafe next to his award-winning Italian restaurant in the City. The new venue will offer a more relaxed dining room, bar and takeaway counter. The daily-changing menu will feature Southern Italian pasta dishes, Josper-grilled meat, pizzas, salads and Prosecco on tap.

Kurt Zdesar, the restaurateur who founded Ping Pong, will open a restaurant in Soho this September. The former Giraffe site will be split into a 180-cover dining area, lounge, sushi bar and robata grill. It will specialise in Nikkei cuisine - a mixture of Japanese and Peruvian. The menu has been developed by Hiroki Takemura (formerly of Nobu and Zuma) and will feature a tasting menu of seven courses for just £40.

The Goodman steakhouse group is set to launch a new 'premium' concept in the West End in November. Big Hospitality reports that the as-yet-unnamed site will serve 'premium steak and Russian live king crab alongside a range of fine wines'.
