Sunday Lunch - Gordon Ramsay
Gordon Ramsay’s Sunday Lunch you might think would be a volatile affair. Certainly you wouldn’t want to annoy him while he was carving. Actually, though, our Gordon shows his sensitive, caring side in this book of Sunday Lunch and other family friendly recipes. It coincides, as cookery books tend to, with a TV series in this case the second series of ‘The F Word’, which many thought was a bit overcooked the first time round. No matter, Gordon is always great value and while he might be a bit hard to take on screen, his recipes are always worth a read.
Here he is evangelising the benefits of sitting down to eat as a family.
He believes it fosters better relationships, as well as a proper appreciation
of food in children that will last them all their lives. And it’s hard
to argue with that. Here are 25 menus all featuring proper starter, mains
and dessert, with a useful timetable to prevent sudden outbreaks of uncontrollable
swearing. From traditional Sunday roasts to 30 minute specials, from Wild
Garlic and Parsley Risotto, to Roast Rump of Lamb with Spiced Aubergine and
Herb Couscous. There are even some BBQ dishes. It’s all very tempting,
well photographed and very achievable. Perhaps the best bit is a U certificate
DVD that features Gordon cooking a complete Sunday lunch and making it look
as easy as can be. Assuming, of course, you don’t get stuck into the
sherry until well after the starters!
