A tipple with a difference from Ping Pong
The New Year brings with it a thirst for a healthier lifestyle and twentieth century teahouse and dim sum emporium, Ping Pong have created a delicious new drink brimming with goodness to help get you started. However, understanding detoxing is not to everyone’s taste, there is an alcoholic twist for those who want it…The Detox / Retox Lychee Red Black Tea

Infusing the sweetest black tea scented with lychee from Guangdong in Southern China with chrysanthemum and lime leaves, this revitalising iced tea is an aromatic adventure with a host of benefits.
Black tea is crammed with antioxidants and, according to Chinese medicine, chrysanthemum flowers clear toxic heat and protect the liver whilst lime leaves cleanse body and mind.
Enjoyed detox pure or with a cheeky shot of retox Tequila there is little reason not to indulge.
Available from all Ping Pong restaurants throughout January
the detox Lychee Red Black Tea is £2.95 with the retox version at £5.95
Foxtrot Alpha
What a strange name, or callsign. I'd like to see a restaurant called Bravo Two Zero where you have to eat your meal halfway up a tree with a sniper rifle round your neck. But maybe that's just me.
Anyway, later this month Gordon Ramsay re-opens Chelsea’s classic neighbourhood bistro, Foxtrot Oscar and no doubt the critics will be all over it like a cheap suit. In 1998 when Gordon Ramsay opened his flagship restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, he like many others, fell for the restaurant’s charms. Gordon and his team of chefs became well known faces at Foxtrot Oscar and often dined at the restaurant after an evening’s service.
On taking over Foxtrot Oscar, Gordon Ramsay comments; “I am tremendously excited about Foxtrot Oscar. My aim is to take the restaurant back to its glory days; providing fantastic food in a friendly, unpretentious environment – the ultimate local bistro”.
The refurbishment of the building will build on the cosy and simple nature of the neighbourhood bistro. With a central colour scheme of cream and black the refurbishment will create an interior that is modern yet comforting.
The menu will be in keeping with the original but updated for today’s diners; simple, classic dishes based around fresh produce and seasonal ingredients. Starters will include; Chicken liver parfait with toasted brioche and Steak tartare, properly garnished. Main dishes will include Foxtrot fishcakes and Homemade pie of the day. And to finish, Chocolate fondant and Treacle tart.
Foxtrot Oscar will have a capacity for eighty guests and will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.
Plane Sailing
Gordon is also opening Plane Food at the newly built Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport. Plane Food will be a 180-cover fine dining restaurant housed in the Richard Rogers-designed building of the world's busiest international airport. Stuart Gillies (Boxwood Café) will oversee the menu together with Nathan Johnson. And not to be stopped he is also launching a third pub, The Warrington , in Maida Vale. Dating back to 1857, this landmark building has been sympathetically returned to its former glory following an extensive restoration designed to retain and enhance its best historical features. The ground floor will operate as a traditional pub while the first floor will house a 90-cover restaurant and dedicated bar. Reservations are not currently open however more details will be published as soon the pub launches.

KAI MAYFAIR’S UNIQUE NEW CHAMPAGNE MENU
One for the oligarchs amongst us, or the pro football players, this. Kai Mayfair, one of the capital’s most opulent Chinese restaurants, has taken the world´s finest bubbly and used it to help create London´s most sumptuous and unique menu.
Kai´s Dom Perignon Menu uses a full bottle of the 1999 vintage to create each six course meal for two. The last word in luxury.
The cost for Kai Mayfair’s Dom Perignon menu is £280 per person for a minimum of two people. Three days’ notice is required for all bookings.
The choice of suggested accompaniments for the menu are 1999 Dom Perignon (£120), 1996 Dom Perignon Rose (£210), 1993 Dom Perignon (£250), 1964 Oenotheque Dom Perignon (£570) and 1959 Oenotheque Dom Perignon (£1,700).
So a cheap meal it aint, but it will be rather memorable.
