The Ambassador is spoiling us on October 13th
Like your food? Like a convivial meal with like-minded foodies? Like being treated to extra special service away from the madding crowd? Then you'll love Monday Eating from london-eating.
These events are for people who love their food, naturally, but are also an opportunity to have a fun evening meeting new people, sharing the same food experience and generally doing something different to liven up a Monday evening.
L'Ambassade de l'Ile
Two Star Michelin Chef Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex heads up this remarkable new restaurant in an unique Edwardian building. The interior design has not always been appreciated by all, but the food is a different matter. It is, in many people's opinion, quite superb.
Chef Jean-Christophe is not one of the new ‘rugger bugger’ school turning out hearty, simple, meals to pander to the jaded tastes of the burping thug critic tendency. This is full on, creative, French fine dining and the prices reflect this.
So we are delighted that Jean-Christophe has agreed to put to together a special Lyonnais menu just for us. You can view it below. If you’ve never eaten Pike, and I have my hand up here, it’s just one of the treats in store on the night.
Mr Christian comes on board
We are also delighted that the wonderful Glynn Christian will be our special guest on the night. Glynn is a food writer and presenter who has done so much for the appreciation of food in the UK that last week, at the Guild of Fine Foods dinner for the Great Taste Awards, he was given the Lifetime Achievement Award - for TV, radio, press and books contributing to the deli and gourmet food business.
Glynn (who is indeed the great great great great grandson of Fletcher Christian, leader of the mutiny on the Bounty in 1789) has just brought out a new book we will be reviewing next week called How to Cook Without Recipes. It’s a bright witty read that any home cook will find much more useful than a shelf full of celeb-chef recipe books with posh pictures and unachievable menus.
We have asked Glynn to bring some copies along to sign and sell. Not only has he kindly agreed, he’s even dropped the price by a few quid too ! What a nice man. Find out more about Glynn here
