Yum Yum Thai Restaurant review by im
I have eaten at this restaurant once before many years ago, and was extremely disappointed then. I returned this week, giving it the benefit of the doubt - particularly as it had recently moved location.
I wish I had trusted my opinion the last time. It was awful. An absolute rip off.
The staff couldn't have been less attentive if they tried and we had to repeatedly ask for things. The food arrived lukewarm and stale - I suspect that the deepfried bits had been sitting around for sometime before being served to us. The stirfried veg was actually soggy and cold - horrible.
The restaurant was quiet when we arrived but halfway through our main meal they had a rush, at which point, the staff began loitering around our table, being very attentive when they needed the table and whisked our plates and food away without even asking if we had finished-which we hadn't. When we brought this to their attention they seemed annoyed that we objected and begun to put the unfinished food back on the table, huffing and puffing. I was livid at this point, and told them to take it and bring the bill. £88 for two people. RIP OFF.
I couldnt understand how YUM YUMs has survived for so long but i suspect that it has been living off it's reputation for sometime now. When it first opened, it was actually a bit of a pioneer -one of the very few THAI places around. 20 or so years later, we can do much much better. There are so many thai places to choose from in the area, I would never recommend YUM YUMs.
