Duke of Cambridge (Angel) review by Catherine

I went to the Duke of Cambridge for my birthday last week. I was keen to go to an organic restaurant but was relauctant to try this particular pub after reading the terrible reviews on this site. In the end I decided to risk it and decide for myself, after all, eight bad reviews can't be representative of a pub that seems to be crowded every night of the week.

On booking the restaurant I requested a quieter table away from the bar so was disappointed to find they had placed us directly next to it - but this was quickly resolved despite the restaurant being fully booked.

I agree that the service isn't super fast but it was perfectly fine for us as we were not in a hurry and wanted to make the most of my celebratory meal. Everything else in London is rushed so a long, pleasant meal was a luxury for me! The food came piping hot and fresh and everyone I was with was happy with their choices. The fish pie and apple crumble were particularly delicious. The portions were large and good value for money.

I would definitely recommend the restaurant at the Duke of Cambridge but not if you are in a hurry.
