Aubergine review by Brian
I dined at the Aubergine this week as my graduation dinner with some friends. The service was superb with very friendly staff. The 5 of us had the menu gourmand along with the flight of wine to go with it since it was an once off occasion. The food was nice but I have to admit for the total bill of 750 quid for 5 and the 1 star michelin escalade, i was disappointed with the food overall.... it was all very finely cooked but for such tasting menu, it has no such "wow" factor..maybe there wasnt suppose to be.
There are one or 2 dishes where im not totally convinced with the combination of the flavours such as the orange to go with the pan fried red mullet. However having said that, i did enjoy the overall ambience and the occasion. maybe an extra plus on the food side would make it an truly unforgettable dinning occasion.
