Rhodes W1 Brasserie review by Mike Panteli
Went for my wife's birthday and to be honest i was better off cooking at home. I have been to Rhodes 24 in the past, and that was the comparison i was looking for. On entering the hotel I was somewhat disappointed to find the overall ambience and decor too clinical and unwelcoming. I ordered the scallops for starter followed by skate. The scallops were watery and potato puree was too loose (runny). The skate looked boiled not pan fried like I imagined or grilled. If it was supposed to be poached it looked awful. The taste was bland and was only helped by the salt. The courgettes were hardly cooked and the chips looked like they just about saw the fryer. I know this may sound like someone just moaning but I was really let down by the whole experience. My wife did however enjoy her dinner but I suppose you cannot really mess up steak and chips with salad. The atmosphere had no warmth at all and really suits corporate people mainly. Sorry guys but this really was a bad experience.
