La Figa review by Stuart Muswell
A group of 7 (6 girls & myself) went on Friday 16th November for a meal to celebrate my daughter's 21st Birthday. We were seated quite promptly, but 2 of our party of 7 were over an hour late and consequently we seemed to be ignored for quite a while by the waiting staff. We eventually ordered some starters and drinks until the latecomers arrived. Generally the ambience and atmosphere was good and the place was buzzing. We even spotted Mathew Parris, well known in political/media circles. The food was of very good quality and decent portions too. The waiting staff were clearly very busy and the service was generally shambolic, with food arriving from the kitchens with the waiting staff not really knowing to which table it was intended !. Our waiter was a bit of a character who, to my amusement , revelled in kissing my daughter and my partner on the forehead a number of times. When I paid, they took my card away from the table to process it, which I didn't like. Our bill came to £163, we were charged £5.25 for an unordered Tiramisu with a candle which no-one ate, but we were not charged for 2 beers. We also paid £2.66 each for 9 soft drinks which is typically outrageous London prices. Generally a good time was had, but I think allocating fewer tables to each waiter would help, particularly at busy times.
