Hush Brasserie review by Anon
I wholeheartedly agree with the reviewer who commented that the chef didn't care about his food. I can only think that the people who come here and return must have a similar antipathy towards eating. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant where the food was cooked so badly, and it's not even anywhere near cheap.
I ordered the salmon, which was overcooked to the point of being inedible. I've had tinned salmon that was more succulent. The soy and ginger sauce it came with had no discernible ginger in it and resembled nothing so much as a mass-produced gloopy hoisin. And the broccoli which it was atop disintegrated on contact with a fork. The only positive thing about the dish was that it was not as small as the ridiculous portions that other members of the party were served. Dover sole was three finger-sized strips of, again overcooked, fish, served with a couple of fronds of watercress - which would be mean even as a starter. And how does 4 scallops and a couple of tired croutons constitute a main dish?
The evening may have been less completely disappointing if perhaps the service had been outstanding. Unfortunately the staff were hopeless - when I asked for a fuller description of the rare tuna salad on the menu, the reply I got was " its, like, raw tuna and, like, mixed salad" ..
In short, please don't go here if you take any pleasure in eating..
