La Trompette review by Mike Edmunds

We wanted to go to a top London restaurant and we booked last minute. Other restaurants such as Petrus are fully booked for months so after some research, we managed to get a table for two at La Trompette. I was very excited after reading Hardens and internet reviews. We arrived a little early but were shown to our table straight away next to the window. It was a little chilly so we asked to move, it wasn't a problem to the staff and were relocated to a table set for four. We picked our courses and the somellier recommended some brilliant wines by the glass to compliment our chosen dishes. We have no complaints about the food, it was very very good although I'd stop short of calling it truly exceptional. The service was slowish but the dining room was full and we weren't in a rush so this had no impact on us. Staff were very courteous, friendly and attentive throughout and the final bill was pretty good. The only problem is probably the location. It's a very good local restaurant for West London, but it's relaxed and very good value.
