Tootsies (Bond Street) review by bellaphon

At the least the heavily pregnant lady managing the restaurant was diplomatic enough.

Three of us went to the James Street branch to sample the award winning burgers last night. The waitress, who took our orders was amicable enough but seemed to be in rush with the whole procedure. It was a case of ‘excuse me young lady before you go we are having beef burgers and not chicken and can we have them cooked Medium please.’ Alas the food arrived, the presentation was indeed mouth-watering, however the burgers were hopelessly charred to death; well done beyond belief. We were all too hungry to raise a complaint and being a Friday night the waiting staff were rushed off their feet. The other irritating thing was we came to the restaurant during the Happy Hour, so we were entitled to our second drink respectively for free. As the promised free drinks were not too forthcoming; the constant reminders to the waiting staff made us look like lapsed members of the AA. However I did notice the young lady manning the bar was struggling on her own.

Potentially the food was good despite the above experiences. We only complained to the waitress about the state of our burgers when she came to clear the table. She acknowledged apologetically and mentioned she’ll have a word with the manager. The above manager was kind enough to take one of the main courses of our bill as a respite. I shall at least be going back to sample what the true award winning burger is capable of.
