Eagle Bar Diner review by Creesey

Went to the Eagle Bar for my birthday on a Friday night with 10 people. The atmosphere in the bar was good, and £3.80 for a pint of Bud was not extortionate considering the part of town we were in.

They accommodated the large group well, and the staff waiting our table were friendly. However, despite this don't expect to be served in hurry. We had to wait about an hour for our food to turn up after ordering and some of the drinks that were ordered never turned up at all.

When the food did turn up, which was very reasonably priced, it seemed to appear in stages. The burger I ate was very nice, and everyone seemed to share my opinion of their main dish. Especially as it cost less than a tenner. However, my side dishes, when they eventually made an appearance were cold and bland.

Desert, in the form of a chocolate brownie and ice-cream, was a good choice, and the staff even sang happy birthday!

In short I think this is a place to come to drink rather than eat. The cocktails are good and the atmosphere spot on. However, with the venue being rather small, trying to have a conversation around the table with the loud music and general noise at the bar is quite an effort.

I would not come here again for dinner, but would consider visiting for cocktails or maybe lunch if I had a whole day to waste!
