Beauberry House review by Sheila Heath

My party of 4 visited Beauberry House restaurant in Dulwich today for Sunday lunch as a birthday celebration. I'm afraid it was not a success. The weekend brunch is advertised as 2 courses for £18.50. We all ordered the roast leg of lamb with root vegetables. It appeared from the menu that roast potatoes were a side dish so we each ordered these. It then transpired that roast potatoes - or Beauberry House's version of roast potatoes - were part of the dish. Had this been clearer we may have ordered, and shared, different side dishes. Service was extremely slow. The main course, when it arrived, was delicious. There is nothing wrong with their cooking!

We had all forgone starters because the desert menu was so inviting but when we came to order desert we discovered that they had no deserts left although we were not the last patrons to take our seats. I can understand a popular desert being unavailable, or even two, but they had no deserts, and no alternatives at all available. Our table had been booked more than a week in advance and a mere counting of chairs could have told them how many diners to expect. To run out of all deserts before the end of service is pure bad planning.

Although I had been assured on the telephone that there was ample parking on the premises, the car park was full and our two cars were parked on the road resulting in each picking up a parking ticker for £120. We will not be going again!

In response to your advice, in the event of an unfavourable review, to first contact the restaurant, I tried to open their website but gave up. It takes an age to open and only displays a picture of the premises. I had the same problem trying to access their menus and ended up making a personal visit to get the details..
