it started off so well, good service, and a wonderful view of Grosvenor Square.
When the first dish arrived, it began to go downhill, I ordered the Italian wine 'flight' but because I'd ordered a lot of fish, asked for two of the glasses to be substituted for whites which the sommelier recommended, to my disgust, I was given two glasses of sub-par new world wine, albeit at the £35 I would have been charged for the three decent Italian reds... Assiette of sandwiches, an assortment of two!... one of which was not even a sandwich! The croque monsieur was sublime, but miniature. The BLT, which contained no bread, simply a tomato jelly, lettuce sauce and a strange cream, perhaps mayonnaise, topped with two tiny silvers of bacon, in a martini glass was frankly vomit inducing.
The dish to follow was roasted scallops with cauliflower and cauliflower puree, this was not bad, but the scallops could have done with a little less cooking, and quite frankly I can cook scallops better than this.
Halibut ravioli, was not ravioli, but rather a decent piece of Halibut, well cooked, topped with a thin slice of pasta. This was a good dish, but because it was wrongly described, it does not get my approval.
The pork assiette was fine, nothing to rave about.
'Pain au chocolate' pudding was good, as was the desert wine that the 'other' sommelier recommended. Yet, it was not a 'pain au chocolate'... another wrongly described dish, it was cafe au lait flavored ice cream, with chocolate pudding and a white creamy mousse.
The 'other' sommelier also recommended me a very nice amargnac.
All in all, it's not worth a visit, even if it's not bad.
