Cocoon review by Liz

This is the first time I have been compelled to write a review of a restaurant on line. I went to Cocoon on Friday witha friend with the hope of having a fun night out, and I was sorely disappointed.

The room and decor are deeply tired, everything looked scruffy and out of date, the lighting was unpleasant and the layout confusing.

The menu is deeply uninspiring. We ordered a selection of sushi, sashimi, dim sum and tempura only to have everything we ordered arrive at the table at exactly the same time. The food was deeply mediocre when compared to Nobu, Roka or Hakkasan who all charge similar prices, where we eat regularly. The rock shrimp tempura for example was soggy and tasteless.

We ordered cocktails form the bar menu. I am a breastfeeding mother of two, and had 3 martinis, which is a fair amount of alcohol for me (sadly) to consume only to leave the restaurant stone cold sober. At £9 each to serve cocktails with little or no alcohol in them is outrageous.

The bar and restaurant were definitely not somewhere I would want to spend any more time and really did feel second rate when compared with other lively London nightspots.
