Beotys review by David Rosser
My wife and I came to this charming restaurant on the evening of our sixth anniversary. We looked at the reviews before coming and decided that a few rave reviews far outweighed what seemed unreasonable rants. By the way they do have vegetarian for those who prefer that kind of food.
The experience for us was completely unforgettable and very special. We chose to reserve a table in advance, purposely at a time when most people would be at the theatres. It was a cold rainy night and the restaurant was warm, quiet, cosy and welcoming. We got what I can only describe as royal treatment, so forget any reference to poor service by others! The food was outstanding and certainly good value, even though it was a little more pricey than other Greek restaurants we had been to. I don't mind paying for true quality and service, which is what we received from John and the staff. So attentive, so polite and such perfect timing....all of this made our evening special.
We drank retsina and had the meze to start with. It arrived much sooner than we had expected...perfect timing because we were both famished. Delicious, and the correct portion size for a starter for two. The selection was good and the taramasalata was the best I have ever tasted, in Greece (I have visited several of the greek islands) or any other Greek restaurant in the world.
The main course was high quality standard fare for a Greek restaurant and we were well filled. (My wife had some delicious lamb rolled in coriander seed and I had a stuffed aubergine) Unfortunately we were so well filled that we could not even sample the very tempting looking desert trolley!
We will certainly be going back again and would like to thoroughly recommend this delightful place to all. You certainly don't have to be going to the theatre to try it.
