Yum Yum Thai Restaurant review by salv
Went to this restaurant for the first time this weekend for a relatives birthday and was surprised at it location and impressed by the decor. We sat in the subfloored area which required us to take our shoes of and we were provided with thai type slippers. I was expecting quite a lot as it seemed quite an impressive restaurant and the menu seemed reasonably priced on basic dishes. Unfortunately I was unimpressed by the food and to some extent the service. I ordered a number 9 Lok chin tod which were described as fillets of chicken marinated with herbs, made into delicious balls, shallow fried, served with a plum sauce. They seemed to be basically processed round soggy chicken nuggets.
My main course also arrived stone cold. This was the duck in taramind sauce. the noodles were also something I had never seen as they looked almost transparent and overcooked. i did find one source of flavour which was a solitude sprig of corriander,
Overall I was disappointed. the setting was nice but the food was less than impressive and for what i paid I felt like I should have stayed at home and cooked it myself, Maybe put aup some thai decor and it would have been more worth while. I have tasted authentic thai cuisine in the Uk , cooked by a taiwanese woman who opened her own restaurant . That was simply amazing so ther is nothing wrong with Thai food , as long as you find the right place and unfortunately , however Yum Yum looks nice , its not the place to find amazing thai food.
